People don’t understand that 2K15 was literally groundbreaking.
It was the first 2K with affiliations, a rep system, Rec, and Stage. Almost everything we associate with Park today was brand new back then. The gameplay was cool, but what really made it special was the fact that we were experiencing something we’d never seen before.
Almost 12 years later, we’ve basically been playing variations of the same concept. Park is starting to feel played out because that new feeling is gone. You can improve the gameplay all you want, but you can’t recreate the magic of experiencing something for the first time. 2K needs to do something new!

If you guys didn't realize, he's actually going back and playing it. Like these are recent clips. These are not clips from over a decade ago. He actually went back to play it. So you can't say nostalgia. Do you bots not understand it? The clips people are posting, they actually went back to play it and they still feel the same.

I don’t think anyone thinks the look of gameplay is necessarily better but the fun factor was there and the want to consistently play and grind was as well.
Few factor attribute to that in my opinion.
1. No cheaters
2. Park was fresh and new
3. Consistent games in park

I have publicly provided a list of things I felt were problems on every platform I use. 90% have not been addressed. This trend of Blame Joe Knows for the game every single year is becoming very old. I get I have influence but if other creators spent less time trolling about "Joe fix it" and more time helping spread awareness of what they think is wrong we'd accomplish a lot more in my opinion. #KeepitObjective

My Thoughts & Problems With NBA 2K27... (🧵)
I really don't understand the whole concept of speed ups. There's no possible way a mechanic that's UNPREDICTIPABLE is a SKILL GAP in a video game. If we could tell exactly when a speed up is going to happen.. then that's fine. We can learn that. But when we get it on a catch and shoot.. quickstop.. wide open.. full stamina.. how does that make sense? Slow downs I can completely fine with, those make sense usually if you drained of stamina or contested. We need to either REMOVE speed ups or we can make them predictable every single time, which is unlikely in an online game.
SBMM. Oh boy where do I start. For the first 2 days of the game, majority of players being red plate was fine. There were a good amount of "casuals" or "fake comp" in the Theater and Proving Grounds, but obviously after a few days people are going to lose to cheaters / real red plates and drop plates. Now, 3 days after the game has came out you cannot play Theater 2v2 or Proving Ground 2v2 without playing a cheater every other game.
And I didn't even think about the REC community, people cannot go in there anymore casually and play recreational basketball. I have heard everyone just plays perfect rotates and zones, which makes it really hard for people who are trying new sigs / builds or creating content. I would say Pro-Am should be the place for that stuff to happen, but we don't have "Pro-Am" anymore.
Cheating.. all I can say is I hope something in Season 2 happens where people get detected and banned for cheating. With fading being super overpowered in the game and shot artist ending the game once you get 9 points, it makes it almost impossible to get a stop against cheaters. Most of them don't have IQ so getting a lane is our only option. Before release 2K spoke about "monitoring cheating" and taking action in the future, so we'll see about that.
The game itself is actually pretty fun. I like the fluidity of the dribbling which apparently is comparable to NBA 2K26 (I didn't play much of), but I am enjoying it. Also of course fading everything is a lot of fun, until it gets nerfed. I don't really see a point to make a small guard right now because I can't quickstop and shoot the ball consistently, and I can just fade on my tall guards and shoot over people.
Rebounding animations... This is a MAJOR problem that I feel like a lot of people aren't talking about. Why do I have a 92 3PT Shot and I am throwing line drive fast balls at the rim when I slightly late as if I have a 60 3PT Shot. So not being able to shoot consistently on stand stills PLUS my teammate not being able to get a rebound because it flies to a random spot on the court, it just seems impossible. A lot of people don't known this but these rebound animations were the same on Current Gen NBA 2K's (24-26).
Defense is actually pretty good in the game; on ball steals are present, lanes are pretty good, paint defense is okay if you actually have interior and block, and you can get bumpy if you have the right amount of perimeter and strength. One problem I do see right now is that L2 contests (no hands up) show as bothered, while sometimes hands up will show semi-open. Which makes no sense.
My one gripe with NBA 2K which has been the same problem since 2K25... the lack of content. Seasons are the same, Crews are the same, REP is the same but just longer. I did the whole rep grinding in NBA 2K24 and I cannot make myself do it year after year playing the game 15 hours a day to achieve the same rewards. And also Proving Grounds (Our Ranked Gamemode) is still being boosted and the rewards are the same every season.
With the copy and paste of The City this year, I really do thing majority of the devs are focusing on the College game that is set to release around February 2027 which has been advertised in a couple trailers, and maybe we see a lot of people transition to that game to try something new out.
TLDR; So I will end off this thread by wishing that the big Season 2 update that happens every year fixes a couple things. Standstill shooting, speed ups, SBMM for the Rec Community, rebounding physics, and cheating of course. I know that content wise nothing will be added because those are decided before the game drops, but maybe the Rockstar integration in Season 3 will bring something new to the game.

It’s weird to go against the person who develops the game, but just loading up and playing a test pool of 3 games will show that regardless of stamina, adrenaline, etc your shot speed will randomly speed up or slow down.
