Ok hear me out what if we make all medications save controlled meds and maybe a few other classes over the counter. As a doctor I would no longer be a prescriber but a consultant on what you should and shouldn’t take and I can help you determine if what you are taking is helping with your BP or diabetes, etc. but you can theoretically take whatever you want like peptides are now. There would be upfront pricing(and given market economics they would drop on almost all meds). Insurance no longer covers these meds. We work out something for the folks who can’t afford them like SNAP. Ibruprofen and Tylenol are way more dangerous than a lot of current prescription meds. It’s not perfect but the current system isn’t either.
