BYUโs football roster is hilarious to me. Itโs basically an entire team of American Gladiators. They have guys named:
Bear
Legend
Raider
Orion
Ace
Tiger
Journee
Fisher
Crew
Justice
Cannon
Lucky
Rayden
Maverick
Bott
Strantz
Jett
It really does bear emphasizing that 2026 was supposed to be the *worst* possible map for Democrats. This was a map where, after 2024, a lot of very smart analysts predicted that Democrats would *lose* seats. They're on track for 56 seats when all is said and done!
To understand just how hard taking back the Senate is for Republicans in 2028. Their *easiest path* to doing so is:
-Flip Ohio, Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, AND Pennsylvania.
-All while holding all *their* most vulnerable seats. Wisconsin, North Carolina, they have to seriously worry about Alaska, Iowa, and Kansas now too.
-And after all that, they would STILL be one seat short. They'd have to win at least one state that has *never* voted for Trump. New Hampshire, Colorado, or Illinois (lol) are probably their only options.
-Oh, and if Dems win the presidency, they have to flip *two* of those three.

How far did the blue wave go? A special education teacher named Elizabeth Holmes beat the Florida state rep who sponsored the bill to rename Palm Beach International Airport after Trump, in a Trump +10 seat in Palm Beach County
Oh man, it is going to be SO much fun to watch Admiral Lacore question Pete Hegseth or whatever moron Trump gets to replace him.
CNN projects that Democrat Nancy Lacore, a retired Navy vice admiral, will win the house race for South Carolina's first congressional district.
She was fired by Hegseth because he fired a number of flag officers. And now, presumably, she'll be appointed to the house armed services committee, and she will get to ask questions of Secretary Hegseth under oath
Tweeting this is an impeachable offense by Blanche--it suggests an utterly corrupt understanding of the position of Attorney General which is fundamentally at odds with the position's purpose.
It's also an astoundingly stupid thing to tweet at the House Oversight Dems account.

Utah. It had an *enormous* blue wave on Tuesday, obscured somewhat by not having a statewide race. It went R+1 in combined US House races.
I can imagine a scenario where it snaps back to solidly GOP if MAGA is gone and what replaces it is slightly more chill.
But I can also see a future that has Bluetah in it. Utah is a very young state, a very highly educated state, a very wealthy states, with a decent Latino population, and 80% of the popualtion lives in the cities/suburbs along the Wasatch Front - SLC, Provo, etc. The rurals are actually very numerically weak. It's the bluest-shifting state since 2004
Very strong candidates like Ben McAdams could very well challenge bad GOP candidates like Mike Lee sooner than you might think.
I wonder when weโll get a Republican post-mortem. For example, they frivolously spent hundreds of millions pretending to contest safely Democratic states, like Texas, and barely invested in crucial swing states like South Carolina and Mississippi. This silliness cost them dearly

UT Republicans' Map C was drawn for a 4-0 GOP sweep, but failed to pass. With 2026's House vote, it likely would have elected 2 Dems
Current map: 3R-1D
Old 2021 map: 2R-2D
Map C: 2R-2D
per @DecisionDeskHQ, with an est. 15-25% of ballots still uncounted

Blississippi is crazy because they didn't even achieve it by running some white ancestral Dem. They got a Black Democrat winning against someone who sent her daughter to a segregation academy.

This is at least partly because Schumer has largely been a very uninspiring party leader and his response to Trump has looked and felt somewhat weak at times. But yeah, in terms of mastery of electoral politics, he really has no living equal. He's a genius of rare caliber.

15) Nobody bats 1000 but man does Chuck Schumer know Senate race ball. From recruitment to funding to day to day support, there is no modern equivalent to one man constantly muscling his party to over-achieve in Senate races. Will never fully get his due but the man is a marvel.

As of now, Democrats look on track for about 260 U.S. House seats, give or take one or two depending on if mail ballots out west break a little differently than expected in a district or two. They will have the largest majority for either party in 36 years.

Thatโs a tough ask when the partyโs only policy agenda for the past decade was โnever question or criticize the party boss who is literally a caricature of Biff from Back to the Futureโ

Every anti-Paxton Republican I talked to was sick of exactly this kind of crap. They want the party to grow up, stop acting like Biff from Back to the Future, and actually try competence and integrity for a change.
