It's hard to find a more loathsome figure than Mike Rogers
At a tailgate in Ann Arbor, senator-elect Abdul El-Sayed tells @detroitnews that Mike Rogers hasn’t called him to concede.
“At the end of the day, it really doesn’t quite matter,” he said. “I’m sure he had a flight to catch to Florida”

Just an unimaginable nightmare. Can you imagine having no place warm, safe and dry for your children? The genocide has not ended.
Scores of trucks carrying new tents and caravans (mobile homes) have been waiting at Gaza's border for more than a year, but Israel has blocked them from entering despite a US-brokered and monitored ceasefire.
Israel’s deliberate and systematic cruelty to deprive displaced Palestinians of shelter and compound their suffering is part of an effort to drive Palestinians out of Gaza, and is continuing with full U.S. support.

#Gaza: a fourth winter and one year after the ceasefire:
People are still in the rubble, flooded tents, sewage overflowing, no warm clothes, no rehabilitation, only miseries & broken promises.
Palestinians in Gaza deserve more than indifference.
It’s time to allow long overdue access to unhindered & uninterrupted flow of basic assistance!
مع اشتداد الأمطار والبرد في #غزة، تواجه العائلات وأطفالها ظروفًا مأساوية داخل خيام مؤقتة لا توفر لهم سوى القليل من الحماية.

He is currently getting ratio’d by people telling him he shouldn’t be Speaker. How can he be the Speaker when he doesn’t listen to the people.

Jennifer Welch: “Hakeem takes AIPAC money. I think we deserve politicians right now in this moment when we have a convicted felon in the middle of a pedophile ring that is ripping everybody off, taking taxpayer money, rewarding all of these bullshit contracts to all of these evil oligarchs. We need a Speaker of the House and a Senate Majority Leader that aren’t compromised. Who can look in the camera and say I’m not compromised, I’m fighting for America, for democracy, and for Americans”

We’re renting the Latino vote. Not owning it.
They want a fair shot and to not be profiled for who they are. They want a chance at the American dream. Our job is to make it real. If we don’t deliver, we lose them again.

Abdul El-Sayed on Israel:
My approach is simple: Treat the government of Israel the way you would treat any other government that did the same thing.
My family comes from Egypt, and I want to do the same thing with Egypt.
Egypt violates human rights law. Egypt shouldn't be getting $3.3 billion of our tax dollars.
And I would hate if somebody would be like, "Well, because you share the ethnicity of 95% of the people in Egypt, for us to say that the Egyptian government is doing terrible things must be anti-Egyptian."
No, it is just applying our principles evenly everywhere.
James Talarico traces 50 years of trickle-down back to one 1971 document, the Powell memo, a corporate blueprint to buy power
“In fact, you can, you can pinpoint this one document called the Powell memo, 1971.”
“But if you read this memo, it's basically a blueprint for how corporate interests can start to dismantle the Great Society and the New Deal”
“They're going to spend massive amounts of money in our politics, buying politicians in both parties, elevate corporate voices in media, appoint sympathetic judges.”
“And that has really been the story of the last 50 years in this country, last five decades.”

I know it's a not the time for infighting, but Chuck Shumer and Hakeem Jeffries should not be leading us. We can do a helluva lot better. We need some new fire. Not these two mall walkers.

The Senate GOP went around the parliamentarian already. The precedent has been set, Abdul is right.

Right now, the Senate parliamentarian remains the one who blocked Dems' min wage.
