53 orangutans have now been rescued from forests devastated by fires in West Kalimantan, Indonesia, and the scale of destruction is horrifying. More than 48,500 hectares have burned this year. Orangutans are being found starving, injured and desperately searching for food in forests that have been destroyed. These are critically endangered animals losing the very habitat they depend on to survive. How much wildlife must suffer before protecting forests becomes a priority rather than an afterthought?

Traditional plastic tape (eg Sellotape) isn't recyclable – and if you put tape-covered wrapping paper in the recycling bin, it can contaminate the paper recycling. Using recyclable paper tape like this is one solution! More: littlegreenspace.org.uk/revi…

Respectfully, can we talk about this? Bilbao, Spain, this evening. It’s relentless. Last year one of our leading climate scientists Prof @HayleyJFowler (video below) warned the UK at anytime could see enough rainfall that cars and homes are washed away, and the London tube network could be flooded and out of action for months. We need the @nebriefing and to be talking about this NOW @andyburnham @AngelaRayner @ShabanaMahmood @YvetteCooperMP @bphillipsonMP @piersmorgan @BethRigby @TomSwarbrick1 @vicderbyshire @jonsopel @maitlis @Emmabarnett @tombradby @WilfredFrost @CliveMyrieBBC @amolrajan @SophyRidgeSky @TVNaga01 @OborneTweets @JohnSimpsonNews @carolvorders @KamaliMelbourne @campbellclaret @RoryStewartUK @StanCollymore @GNev2 @skynews @itvnews @ITNProductions @adamboultonTABB @KayBurley @kayeadams @janem @mrharrycole @rachelburden @bbcnews @skynews @ShelaghFogarty @bbcnickrobinson @tomhfh @susannareid100 #climatecrisis

Apparently we should all be stockpiling food for resilience. Fortunately, my allotment is currently producing enough cucumbers to see us through most conceivable national emergencies. At last, a strategic purpose for the glut. #foodresilience #nationalemergency @madaboutplants

UK historic gardens “are in the front line of climate change” say National Lottery Heritage Fund, with some losing 80 per cent of their trees to heat and drought in summer and storms in winter. All officials surveyed reported some damage at their sites. japantoday.com/category/feat…

#Birmingham is looking fantastic for the #europeanchampionships The stadium is buzzing, lots of supporters. The press & critics have been overly negative. Great variety of reasonably priced food vendors around the stadium, free bottled water & friendly staff what’s not to like!

Honestly, this is an outrage. Enough is enough. These evil lying bastards at the @DailyMailUK @dailymail are endangering all of us. This is a lie. 2026 is the hottest summer on record, beating last years record. Extreme wildfires have more than doubled globally, according to NASA. Wildfires have exploded across the Earth. The USA, Spain and France have seen record wildfires. The Mail never ever lead with the science of climate change. Labour deserves everything it gets because the govt itself does not understand climate change and refuses to have a National Televised Emergency Briefing @nebriefing to tell the public what we are facing. @andyburnham @AngelaRayner @YvetteCooperMP @Ed_Miliband

Following claims that devastating fires on the Suffolk coast were caused by ‘rewilding’, this piece (& people who know what they are talking about), says that’s wrong, & explains how more natural (diverse, wetter & mosaic) habitats can help suppress fire. theguardian.com/uk-news/2026…
