Roger Pielke Jr. en Marcel Crok verdienen steun, juist omdat ze weigeren mee te gaan in de hysterie en groepsdruk die vandaag het klimaatdebat domineren. Niet omdat ze klimaatverandering “ontkennen”, maar omdat ze iets verdedigen wat essentieel is in een vrije samenleving: intellectuele eerlijkheid, wetenschappelijke nuance en het recht om feiten boven politieke campagnes te plaatsen.
Pielke is geen marginale complotdenker. Zijn onderzoek wordt al tientallen jaren geciteerd door het IPCC zelf. Hij erkent klimaatverandering, erkent de rol van broeikasgassen en erkent dat een warmere wereld effecten heeft. Maar hij weigert mee te gaan in de simplistische boodschap dat elke storm, overstroming of bosbrand automatisch bewijs is van een naderende apocalyps.
Zijn centrale punt is eigenlijk heel logisch: de economische schade van natuurrampen stijgt vooral omdat mensen steeds meer waarde bouwen op kwetsbare plekken. Wanneer een zware orkaan vandaag door Florida trekt, vernielt die niet hetzelfde Florida als honderd jaar geleden. Vandaag staan daar miljoenen mensen, gigantische infrastructuurprojecten, luxe vastgoed en complete stedelijke gebieden. Natuurlijk liggen de kosten dan exponentieel hoger.
Dat is geen ontkenning van klimaatverandering. Dat is gewoon een empirische analyse van risico, demografie en economische ontwikkeling.
Maar precies daar begon de politieke oorlog tegen hem.
Vanaf het moment dat klimaatactivisten besloten extreem weer te gebruiken als emotioneel wapen in politieke campagnes, werd nuance een bedreiging. Wie niet meeging in de permanente alarmtoon, werd verdacht gemaakt. Pielke werd aangevallen door activistische denktanks, publiekelijk beschuldigd van misleiding, onderzocht alsof hij corrupt was en uiteindelijk praktisch uit zijn eigen universiteit gewerkt.
Dat is ronduit schandalig.
Een professor met een internationale reputatie, tientallen jaren onderzoekservaring en een voorbeeldig academisch dossier werd administratief gemarginaliseerd omdat zijn conclusies politiek onhandig waren. Niet omdat zijn data frauduleus waren. Niet omdat zijn onderzoek was weerlegd. Maar omdat zijn boodschap niet bruikbaar was voor angstcampagnes.
Marcel Crok heeft in Nederland exact dezelfde dynamiek blootgelegd. Zodra iemand het waagt onderscheid te maken tussen wetenschap en politieke communicatie, begint de karaktermoord. De reactie bestaat zelden uit inhoudelijke weerlegging. Het zijn etiketten, verdachtmakingen en sociale druk.
Dat is gevaarlijk.
Wetenschap hoort geen religie te zijn waarin alleen goedgekeurde dogma’s toegestaan zijn. Universiteiten horen geen activistische instellingen te worden waar afwijkende stemmen subtiel of openlijk worden gestraft. Een vrije samenleving heeft juist nood aan wetenschappers die onafhankelijk durven denken, ook wanneer hun conclusies niet populair zijn bij politici, media of lobbygroepen.
Vrijheid van meningsuiting betekent niets als ze alleen geldt voor meningen die modieus zijn. Academische vrijheid betekent niets als carrières kapotgemaakt worden zodra iemand afwijkt van het gewenste narratief.
De klimaatdiscussie zou moeten draaien om open debat, transparante data, proportionaliteit en eerlijke kosten-batenanalyses. In plaats daarvan zien we steeds vaker emotionele campagnes waarin angst belangrijker wordt dan feiten. Dat ondermijnt niet alleen de wetenschap, maar ook het publieke vertrouwen.
Pielke en Crok verdedigen uiteindelijk iets dat veel groter is dan het klimaatdebat zelf: het recht om feiten te benoemen zonder eerst toestemming te vragen aan activisten, bureaucraten of totalitaire ideologische mediacampagnes.
En precies daarom verdienen ze steun.
En de afbraak van Europa gaat door. Alsof we geregeerd worden door afbraakcriminelen.

Dit krijg je dus als je nooit meer tegenstemmen toelaat in de echokamer van media en academia over Israël: een aaneenschakeling van leugens en geschiedvervalsing, opgetekend door @DriesLesage. Met als toppunt:
"De Israëlische annexatie en kolonisatie sinds 1967 zijn even misdadig als de Russische bezetting in Oekraïne."
Oekraïne is al decennialang een soevereine, internationaal erkende staat, bovendien beschermd door het Boedapestmemorandum. Een Palestijnse staat bestaat echter niet en heeft nooit bestaan, omdat Palestijnse leiders elk voorstel tot de oprichting ervan hebben afgewezen: van de Peelcommissie in 1937 en het VN-partitieplan in 1947 tot de vredesvoorstellen van 2000 en 2008.
Het doel van de Arabische landen was altijd de vernietiging van de ene Joodse staat in het Midden-Oosten, niet de oprichting van een onafhankelijke Palestijnse staat. Toen Egypte en Jordanië na hun vernietigingsoorlog tegen Israël respectievelijk de betwiste gebieden in de regio (Gaza, Oost-Jeruzalem en de West Bank) bezetten, kraaide daar geen haan naar. Want dat was bezetting door andere Arabieren, niet door de verfoeide Joden.
Bovendien heeft Israël zich in 2005 vrijwillig en eenzijdig uit Gaza teruggetrokken en de Palestijnen de kans gegeven er zelf iets van te maken. Ze hebben zelfs hun eigen Israëlische burgers hardhandig verwijderd. Het exacte tegendeel dus van "landroof".
Het resultaat? Twintig jaar terreurbewind door Hamas, miljarden geïnvesteerd in de uitbouw van een militair tunnelnetwerk met menselijke schilden, en de voorbereiding van de slachtpartij van 7 oktober.
Is het een wonder dat de Israëli's niet langer een Palestijnse staat willen? Het zou gewoon suïcidaal zijn. De Palestijnen hebben zelf hun kansen op een staat verkwanseld, door hun starre eliminationisme en hun onophoudelijke terreur.
Het is werkelijk ongelofelijk dat deze man hoogleraar internationale politiek is. Maar hij is helaas niet de enige: hele universiteiten worden nu bevolkt door zulke types.

The testimony of the German Johann W.A. Streit, a young technician, about the massacres of Greeks in Constantinople in 1822 by the Muslim Turks is horrifying. He writes that as soon as a wool factory finished its shift, the Turkish workers seized the prisons of Katrosan and dragged out 186 Greeks who had been arrested in the preceding days.
Many of them they killed on the spot, while they dragged the others through the cobblestone streets until they met a gruesome death:
"They tied the Greeks’ feet and hands with ropes and pulled them in all directions, dismembering them. They cut off their heads, impaled them on the tips of their swords, and paraded them triumphantly through the streets. Even though a fire had broken out that evening in one of the outlying districts, a fire that could have destroyed the entire city, no one was bothered by it. Everyone continued with the slaughter and the looting"
The next morning, Streit saw many Greeks, both men and women, hanging upside down from their windows.
"The victims were writhing and screaming. Knives and swords had been nailed into the buttocks of many. From time to time, they would cut off another piece of flesh".
That morning, Streit counted approximately 4,000 corpses of both sexes. He recounts the incident in which a mob broke into the house of a Greek jeweler. One of his daughters jumped out of the window and was killed.
"They brought the rest of the family down to the square. There they stripped the other daughter and the maid naked, and first cut off their breasts and then their noses. The son, a robust 24-year-old young man, rushed at a Turk, punched him in the temple, seized the bloodied yataghan from his hand, and with one blow from top to bottom cut off his nose so that it remained hanging from his lips. Within a minute, a hundred swords had hacked him to pieces".
Later, the impaling of many Greeks is described:
"Around midnight, they brought more Greeks, men and women, among them three small children. They impaled them with their swords and threw them alive into the fire".
Streit adds: "I did not see a single Turk whose face showed any compassion. Even six-year-old children vented their hatred on the dead. They stabbed the slain Greeks with knives".
Wherever and however they could, the Greek population resisted the barbarity:
"A Greek merchant, as soon as the Turks broke into his shop and house, took refuge with his family in the upper floor. He had with him two barrels of gunpowder. And while forty bloodthirsty Turks were climbing the stairs, he set it on fire. The house blew up into the air. A pharmacist killed 200 Turks who were besieging his house. He poisoned all the wine barrels in his cellar with arsenic and then committed suicide by cutting his throat with a razor. The Turks drank, were poisoned, and died curled up like worms in front of the house".
All of this is described in detail in his book "Constantinople in the Year 1821", which was published in Leipzig in 1822. The Greek title is "Jahann Wilhem August Streit. Η Κωνσταντινούπολη κατά το έτος 1821", and in German "Constantinople im Jahre 1821".
