Arizona had 12 tornado warnings yesterday, the most in a day there since 2010. Now Phoenix, Flagstaff, Prescott and Show Low are under severe storm watches until 10 and 11 AM Arizona time, with hail up to 2 inches possible.

BREAKING: Hurricane Polo is now a Category 5. 160 mph winds. About 220 miles south of Zihuatanejo, Mexico. Yesterday morning this was a 45 mph tropical storm. It gained 105 mph of wind in a single day. Only two hurricanes on record in this ocean have ever gained more: Patricia in 2015, and a storm nobody named in 1957. Otis, the one that flattened Acapulco, did it at this same pace. The forecast keeps the core just off the coast of Mexico, but Zihuatanejo to Manzanillo gets wind, big surf and flooding rain through Thursday.
