I spent two years at the University of Houston basically screwing off, hacking on the College of Technology's HP3000 and playing around at the ham radio club. Then I decided I'd had enough. Went out into the working world and made my way as a mainframe sysprog and then on into development.
Yeah, I lost some opportunities without the degree, but I came to realize that any place that was so shortsighted as to look past my documented experience and level of ability and reject me because of no degree was a place I wouldn't have been happy working for anyway.

Only drop out if you have a prestigious job lined up that would override your lack of degree on a resume, or if you have a startup idea you’re very confident in and prepared to work extremely hard for. Otherwise, you want the degree.

democrats: if we take power we will seize elon musk's companies and put him in prison and no, we do not care if he technically committed any crime or not
also democrats, somehow: why is elon musk funding republicans?
I don't know who Restore Our Independence is, but they're trying to peel off straight-ticket Republican voters like me. It's not gonna work.
Hm. I was referring to libertarians in New Hampshire. But many of their priorities made it out of the House only to get squashed in the NH Senate, which is Republican-controlled but full of RINO squishes. That there are libertarians in the House is a win, certainly, but the NH House has 400 seats, which makes it easier for candidates who might be perceived as fringe to get elected.
@MorlockP, in all seriousness, I say unto you: Get yourself elected to the NH Senate. Encourage your fellow libertarians to do likewise. That's what it's going to take.

Exactly. Trump walked into their convention, offered them a seat at the table... and they're mad that he didn't offer them the whole table.
He freed their political prisoner, and how do they repay him? Stabbing him in the back.
They are ridiculous. It's a hobby, not a serious political movement.
btw... we were mutuals on my old account AnarchoCanadian, if you remember.
If they don't want to die in ICE custody, there's a simple answer: go the hell home. ICE will happily let anyone in custody go home at any time. All they have to do is ask.
And no, home is not "back to their temporary residence in the US".

I think firearms dealers should sell guns by mail without checking without verifying signatures or photo ID.
You know, just like mail-in voting.

For anyone confused about what happened in Brazil…
Imagine if the Kamala Harris campaign, after losing the first round of voting by over two MILLION votes and watching her trail all month, spent Election Day not counting voters but counting buses, and when the courts refused to arrest a city official over a bus spreadsheet, they didn't take no for an answer, they went around the election court entirely, straight to a Supreme Court justice who just happened to be the Democratic president's former personal lawyer, the same president who put him on the bench, and that justice just happened to rule three minutes before polls closed, so late that many machines were already shut and sealed, and then, instead of fixing it, he quietly rewrote his own order so that only the stations still open could keep voting, and nobody, not the press, not the election officials, not anyone, can tell you how many stayed open, or where they were, or why that list hasn't been released, or whether it just happened to line up with the exact neighborhoods the Democrats had spent all day naming, while Republican voters in flooded, blacked-out towns who had begged for extra time were told the doors were locked and to go home, and then the vote count itself was frozen for two full hours in the dark, and when the lights came back on the Democrat had pulled off the first runoff comeback in the nation's history, and the same people who spent four years saying trust the institutions announced the institutions had worked perfectly, that asking which polls stayed open was an attack on democracy, that the list of open polls was classified for the good of democracy which is roughly where Brazil is tonight.

We're told that if we publish this Democrat's mugshot - she'll sue us to take it down. Our response? BRING IT ON.
Grace Carol Brown 22 of New Braunfels faces a Texas t*rrorism charge after a January fire at the Comal County Republican Party headquarters.
⠀
On Jan 14 employees found a broken exterior window and a small fire that caused only minor damage with no injuries at the Landa Street building which also houses other businesses.
⠀
A Comal County grand jury indicted her in April on the first degree t*rrorism count along with earlier state arson and burglary charges.
⠀
Federal prosecutors later added an indictment for actual and attempted malicious damage by fire alleging she broke a window threw in a backpack containing ethanol gasoline a lighter and matches then lit a rolled magazine and tossed it inside after failing to climb through.
⠀
She allegedly left a note calling the local GOP the Nazi Party of New Braunfels and attacking ICE and certain executive branch officials she labeled enemies of the Constitution.
⠀
Brown was arrested without incident on Jan 22 after search warrants and if convicted faces five to 20 years on the federal charge.
⠀
Political disagreement belongs at the ballot box and anyone who tries to settle it with fire deserves serious consequences if the allegations are proven.

Spoken like a true believer in High Art.
Never mind that High Art is basically something that the average person can't "appreciate".
Replying to @SarahAHoyt
I think Art has to display or evoke some kind of valuable insight into humanity.
It's not just "people like it, pay for it, or are entertained by it." If it was, you'd have to call pornography art.
Some comedians produce art, mostly through humorous but insightful commentary on humanity. Others just trigger the human reflex to laugh at the awkward or absurd, especially in groups, or when intoxicated.
Some musicians are artists, who truly say something or really connect to the listener with the way they play, others are just technicians, operating their instrument precisely as instructed. Which is still admirable, but not art. They may well be enabling the art of the composer through their proficiency with their tools, which is no more or less important, and no more or less art, than the electrician or sound guy, or the security guard at the door.
I completely agree that what the snobbish "elites" call art is generally just conspicuous consumption, while what socialists call art is deliberate degradation of the public to enable their dystopia.
But that doesn't mean there's no such thing, or that art=entertainment + popularity.
I was suddenly in need of a vehicle when C4C hit. I got extremely lucky in that I was able to buy a 1989 Bronco II out of a barn. It ran and drove, but the brakes were borderline unsafe (brake booster needed replacing, and braking was crap). Paid $150 for it.
If it wasn't for that, I don't konw what I'd have done.
I will note, however, that 15-year-old cars with 150K miles are much better these days than they were in, say, the 1990s.
Barack Obama was horrible in a million different ways, but he doesn’t get anywhere near the hate he deserves for destroying the used car market for an entire generation.
15-year-old cars with 150,000 miles that should be selling for $3,000 are going for $15,000. It’s abominable. Pure destruction and thievery.
I'm always happy to see someone responsibly using firearms. I don't care who. Black, brown, white, Christian, Muslim.
This is not a picture of someone responsibly using a firearm.
If you walk around with your finger on the trigger when the gun is incapable of firing, you'll do it when the gun is ready to fire out of habit, and you'll inevitably shoot someone or something you didn't mean to.
Habits matter when training to use firearms. Bad ones get people killed.

“I voted. I was standing in that voting booth thinking about high gas prices, expensive groceries, housing costs and the financial pressure on working families. Then my mind went to France, to Dearborn, Michigan and I realized this election is about far more than gas and groceries.
It's about our future, radical Islam, national security, illegal immigration, our borders, education, parental rights, sex and gender policies, and the values our children inherit.
I couldn't see myself voting for a party that hates America, apologizes for our country, is ashamed of our flag, and wants to rewrite our history and abandon our values.
So I voted red, not because Republicans get everything right, always do right by everyday Americans, or are free from corruption, but because I believe we can only fix this country if we still have a country left to fix”
I could not have said it better myself. Voting Blue is literally voting to end America and for the eventual Islamic takeover of America. Voting Democrat means being wiped out by illegals, having our elections permanently rigged, our culture replaced and never having a way out
Everyone needs to vote Red like your life depends on it because it does
Just because it's not High Art doesn't mean it's not Art.
Culture isn't solely defined by the books you approve of. Or the pictures, or the movies, or or or...

You know what to do people. Let’s flood X with this.
I've been on Mounjaro for a little over a year. In that time, I dropped from 210 pounds to, as of about ten minutes ago, 149. I'm aiming for 140.
I haven't been this healthy since high school, <mumble> years ago.
GLP-1 drugs are fantastic. Anyone who's having trouble maintaining a healthy weight should give them an honest try (unlike, say, Gabriel Iglesias).
