I feel I have to apologise for this guy on behalf of the UK. He has imported a very British way of sneering at everybody who disagrees with you, in a way that makes you *feel* smarter than them. Facts are entirely orthogonal to this though.
HBO's @LastWeekTonight has a long track record of citing social science findings without the appropriate context, massaging them to support whatever point @iamjohnoliver is trying to make.

Me: "yes, you could say a follow a 'European diet' "
>Pavarotti kept pasta in the wings of the Met Opera, for snacks between songs "There were to be three roast chickens at all times. There was fresh pasta available at all times. We had to have tomatoes – a particular type of Italian tomatoes – at all times. The food was on a constant rotation – it was always fresh and ready to go." Pavarotti also said “You need some sugar when you sing. You need the energy. Zap! You cannot be romantic on stage without some sugar.”

Too good to fact check. I wan to believe.
As a connoisseur of racism, I have found no greater joy than discovering other language realms on X where they are truly light years ahead. Behold the great meme war between the Turks 🇹🇷 and Chinese 🇨🇳 which has been brewing now for 3 days! It began with a small Turkish account posting a meme of a cat wearing a straw hat + slitty eyes + wispy moustache. A Chinese user then replied with a meme of Patrick Star from SpongeBob parachuting next to the Turkish flag, with a caption along the lines of “I heard the Turkish flag was designed like this, is that true? Both were from small anonymous accounts but now has been viewed by several millions. Turks took it as mockery of a national symbol and all hell breaks lose. The broader historical and cultural pile-on on both sides were equally impressive in its deep knowledge of Ottoman / Chinese history, along with very creative vulgarity. I read one Chinese tweet calling Turkey the fleshlight of the entire world. Both sides insulted each other as “might as well be Indians.” Then it got super testy when it ventured into Turkestan/Xinjiang/Uyghur territory, and soon out came digs about the Turkish lira, China virus and other general nationalist trash talk. The next stage was the free speech Olympics. Turks started posting images of Xi Jinping and daring Chinese users to criticize him to prove that China is “free.” Chinese replies often flipped it to “you criticize Xi but none of you dare criticize Muhammad.” When no Chinese account could criticize Xi, the Turks concluded they were all bots. The latest stage has been the international expansion. Japan + Taiwan + Azerbaijan + Spain lined up with Turks against China. Japanese accounts were the most visible contingent. Taiwan joined the Turkish side for obvious reasons. Azerbaijan was in Turkic solidarity mode. South Korea and Spain too for reasons which are not clear to me. Iran + Greece + India + Egypt joined up with the Chinese against Turkey. I saw an Iranian account openly telling the Chinese to keep going and “discipline the Turks” because the Ottoman/Persian rivalry runs deep still. Greece obviously went against the Turks and as for India, who knows. Could’ve gone either way but they chose the Chinese. The whole thing, while viscous and passionate at times, has strangely left me with the warm fuzzies. Imagine how much more boring life would’ve been without @X’s auto-translate feature

In this house Lindsey Graham is a patriot! He kept on the downlow, took care of his orphaned sister when his parents died, served his country and supported Trump when it mattered.

This is just hilarious
Japanese doing impressions of Americans is just like us doing impressions of them. We just do ours as kids after we watch Seven Samurai and they broadcast theirs on public television in front of a crowd howling with laughter.

They failed in the House. They failed in the Senate. They failed in court three times. Their final play: make @$*# up and break the law. Nearly every state in this Union has a more restrictive tax cap, imposed statewide, than this local cap that NH towns may adopt on Nov 3.
Granite Staters are sick and tired of runaway property tax bills, and the union's illegal bullying won't scare them away from supporting a reasonable limit. Vote yes on Question 2 on November 3. - @Osborne4NH

Someone hacked my uncles Charles Schwab account and sold 49k of his stocks on Friday. Luckily he caught it on Monday morning and they were able to freeze the funds in time. Charles Schwab is trying to tell him that he must have shared his password or fell for a fishing scam. Then the thieves tried to transfer the remaining funds to an account in Palm Springs. Looks like Schwab has been breached. And they are blaming their customers.

My Black principal told us our new colleague had been hired because he was Black. Within weeks, students were reporting that he called them “motherf**kers.” He sent as many as ten students into the hallway at a time. The rest of us picked up the pieces. She kept praising him. That was the summer of 2016. I was six years into teaching, watching a district that couldn’t educate its students become increasingly convinced that the problem was that most of its teachers were white. This is the first installment in a series uncovering the true story of how anti-white sentiment came to dominate in America's public schools. Thanks for reading and subscribing. I have a lot more of this story to tell, I appreciate your support!

I don't know how it is in USA but if it's like here, if a magistrate is writing something like that you know he's extremely fucking pissed
Holy guacamole: In a judicial smackdown, Judge J.E. Smith tears into Judge Wingate for his "careless[] exercise" of judicial power and "sloppy edicts based on falsehoods and fabrications." Mississippi's anti-DEI law can go into effect. Judicial AI use takes a beating. Reassigned.

NEWSFLASH! Gonna be honest I did not see this one coming. First step to uplifted dogs??? @MorlockP Genetically enhanced working dogs, equipped with @anduriltech technology. Science fiction keeps becoming real. @BenLamm's Warhound has raised $200 million to combine @colossal's genetics and cloning capabilities with advanced protective equipment and software for military dogs, police dogs and emergency responders. The goal is healthier, more capable animals, better protection for their handlers, and a domestic supply that reduces America’s dependence on European breeders. The first puppies are expected in early 2027, with entry into service targeted within two years. Those ambitions still need to prove themselves in living animals. 📸 Source: techcrunch.com/2026/10/22/be…
