The amount of idiots who don’t understand that balloons have been a tradition for decades, can be made environmentally safe, and that Nebraska never stopped or gave into the libs is staggering. Take your imbecility elsewhere. I’m not listening to it.
You do away with the dumb smoke (thank you) and replace it with even more fireworks? Stop adding things! Just give us balloons or nothing new! We don’t want more fireworks. It’s like you don’t get it. We just want OUR OLD TRADITIONS @GrahamNeff @ClemsonTigers @ClemsonFB

D3 doesn’t ban athletic scholarships by accident. It bans them on purpose. No scholarship = no pressure to treat sports like a job. Athletes stay students first. Why is that an issue? Result of their approach? Highest graduation rates in the NCAA, the most participants, and kids who actually play for the love of the game. Force scholarships and you kill the only division that still operates as the last form of amateurism in the country.

I would go back to this in a heartbeat. Notice the front door, wide opened without worries of intruders. The phone mounted on the wall, that never rang more than a few times a day. The TV that had only a few channels with wholesome programming and only 30 minutes of news each night. Those were the days, my friends.

Yaxel Lenderborg on his NBA debut and guarding Luka: "I got to see what the NBA is like, man. Lot of flopping, lot of foul baiting, lot of praying to the ref. Interesting first game for me... Being in there firsthand, just watching all the whining and complaining, I lost all respect. That was awful" Transcript of this soundbite: "Yeah, it was interesting. I got to see what the NBA is like, man. Lot of flopping, lot of foul baiting, lot of praying to the ref. Interesting first game for me, for sure. I had a lot of respect for him (Luka). You know, just watching. I didn't really watch the NBA much, I just watched highlights. Seeing him, you know, kill people all the time. But then being in there firsthand, just watching all the whining and complaining, I lost all respect, man. Like that was awful. Like me getting frustrated, it's not about the foul being called, it's about him complaining the entire game. And then you get the foul call, congratulations bro. And then you talk to me like you did something great, bro? Come on, dog. That's just weak. It kinda threw me off for a little while, cause you know, like I said, I had so much respect for him. Gone man, gone. I was telling him he sucks, he can't score on me. You talking and you can't score on me. I said it the whole game. I said a couple cuss words obviously, you know, that's why I got the technical and all that. But I was letting him know, because he was laughing and talking all this because of that one foul call. His only bucket on me was a banker from half court. Like I know that it's a team sport. You know, he had 28pts on us as a team. Me, I took my matchup personally. Tried not to get caught on the fouls. Tried my best. I was thinking about playing him with my hands behind my back to see if that worked, probably would've still got a foul call." Transcript via: reddit.com/r/nba/comments/1x…

YOUR SENIOR SEASON WAS A FAILURE. For thousands of high school seniors, last night was the final time they’ll ever put on that uniform. For others, that night is coming soon. And for some of you, your senior season was a failure. But not because of your record. Not because you missed the playoffs. Not because you didn’t get that scholarship. It was a failure if you didn’t learn what the season was actually trying to teach you. Let me explain. I was fortunate enough to play high school football in a program where we won. A LOT. We won a state championship. Winning was practically an expectation. And looking back, I think my senior season was a failure in some ways. Why? Because I thought life worked like football did for us. Show up, work hard, push the WIN button, and everything works out. Life doesn’t have a WIN button. I played high school football alongside guys who are now multimillionaires, doctors, lawyers, and successful business owners. Know how many of them played college football? None. I was the only one. But they took something from those Friday nights that was worth far more than a college scholarship. They learned how to handle adversity. How to be accountable. How to work with people they didn’t always agree with. How to respond when things didn’t go their way. And here’s what I promise you. Someday, you’re going to face something difficult. It might be in your career. Your marriage. Your friendships. Your family. You’re going to get knocked down. You’re going to question yourself. You’re going to wonder whether all the work is worth it. And somewhere in that moment, something will click. “Man, my high school coach told me that 20 years ago.” And you’ll realize that coach wasn’t just preparing you for Friday nights. They were preparing you for life. So, to the senior whose team went 2–7… To the senior who never made the playoffs… To the senior who didn’t get the accolades… To the senior who didn’t get the college opportunities they dreamed about… Your senior season was a SUCCESS. IF you allow it to be. Because the greatest thing you can take from high school sports isn’t a trophy, a record, or a scholarship. It’s the ability to face the next difficult chapter of your life and know you’ve been there before. Your season is over. What it taught you should last a lifetime.

Kerr: "What I'm seeing is fewer play calls and more flow basketball, more concepts just being executed. And the faster the game, the more difficult it is to get organized. So you have to figure that out without slowing down to call a play." SO important for coaches at all levels

Kids, we had something called Bowl Season. It mattered very much for its own sake. It was a month long, championship bonanza for teams in every record bracket, starting in early December and ending on New Year's Day Players left bowl victories as their legacy to the classes that followed, to match or beat. We voted on a national champion and, if we had two teams we liked, we split it, but it really didn't matter, it was the journey we all cared about This was a unique game called College Football, there was nothing like it. They killed it off back in '98 but it took a few decades before everyone figured it out

Has anyone seen the "Saved By The Bell" episode where Mr. Belding gets a Bonsai tree? He can't stop trimming it b/c he thinks he's just 1 more cut away from it being perfect. By the end, the tree is completely bare and ruined. That's what it feels like happened to college football over the last 15 years...

Hot take: I miss when winning a bowl game was a great season. College football is infected with people that believe national championships are the only metric of success, and I just think that silly and detrimental to the long-term health of the sport.
