A renegade polymath with binoculars and a beard , Bill was invariably funny and occasionally furious . He loved birds and loathed those who harmed them . He was delightfully unpredictable , sparky , smart and at times a bit spiky . Critically he really knew his stuff , and his passion was true - he didn’t just pick up his binoculars on telly , he went birding whenever he could . So he was genuine and that’s why we loved him , he never needed a script , and took scant interest in any he was given . He didn’t like rules and often neglected to play by them . This may have frustrated the serious and the worthy but it always amused his audience - he was an utter joy to be with . I recall finding a Black Woodpecker in a damp Dutch park with him once , he gazed at it intently , sighed , put down his bins , turned to me and just smiled . A massive grin . No words , just a beautiful childlike bliss . That says all you need to know about Bill Oddie . Sadly we’ve not only lost a goodie , we’ve lost one of the besties .

I think a lot of woman on here acting outraged at this quote are not honest with themselves about how women “love” men, maybe it’s because I grew up in florida with a lot of women and girls who were very misogynistic but I rarely saw women love a man for who he was past the persona he performed or the resources he could provide. I think we live in a society that is very bad at love and women think they are good at it because they take on a majority of the care roles but care isn’t love. I don’t know, it’s hard to put into a tweet but all the feminists angrily saying “women have been doing this for years and all we get is abused and mistreated” are just missing the point entirely. Many women are their sons first bully (and daughters). women uphold the patriarchy and are warped by it and that is still true even when we are the victims of it. I still know so many women who openly admit they hate when men cry or act “feminine”. It doesn’t help anyone to act like women are perfect, how could any of us be perfect raised in this abusive culture?

This girl trained her birds to play dead when she goes “phew.” The last one had to make sure it was serious first.

We retire pilots, judges, and CEOs because aging affects judgment, stamina, and adaptability, that’s biology, that’s reality. No serious company would gamble its future on leadership past its peak, yet we let the world be run that way. Leaders like Vladimir Putin, Donald Trump, Benjamin Netanyahu etc will not live long enough to face the full cost of the futures they design. The next generation doesn’t want to inherit old grudges and permanent wars. We want stability, growth, and leaders who actually have to live in the world they’re shaping.

Its so funny how theres a verse spoken by Jesus himself that literally just says "if you are rich you will not get into heaven" with no room for interpretation and every Christian just completely ignores it

Of the ten Irish republican hunger strikers who were martyred in 1981, only two made it beyond day 68. The Palestine Action strikers are now in the death zone, and the british government is letting it happen.
Bobby Sands was martyred on Day 66 of his hunger strike. Today Heba Muraisi is on Day 68 and Kamran Ahmed on Day 61.
