Wow, a pretty damning article with diverse lines of evidence.
Most people do not realize just how easy the AP exams have gotten. They are not college level. Why/how have they become so easy? What's going on? This might shock you... A brutal new piece in Education Next just dropped, saying the decline in rigor of the AP in the last two decades is, in large part, because the content has been GUTTED. For example: — AP Biology cut 40% of its material — Required lines from the Aeneid in AP Latin halved — Spanish Lit reading list cut from 56 works to 38 Then the questions themselves have become absurdly easier. Readability measures show English passages have fallen multiple grade levels, and some now include footnotes defining basic words... A 2025 AP English prompt included footnote definitions for words like "optimism" and "pessimism." At the same time, scoring was recalibrated so that more students pass: guessing penalties disappeared, rubrics grew more generous, readers were told to give students the benefit of the doubt, etc. — "no one at College Board had any incentive to maintain rigor." College professors are now seeing students arrive with AP credit who lack basic content knowledge and writing ability. The College Board insists the exams have not become easier, but everybody familiar with them knows they've become an absolute joke. Advanced Placement is no longer advanced. This is not college level. It must be replaced.

Hasan asks if he is for or against an embargo against Israel. Khanna says he wants to sanction individuals in the Israeli government but says a full embargo & sanctions on Israel (a nation committing apartheid & genocide) is going "too far"
Genuinely shocked nobody is talking about how Ro Khanna told Hasan today that an embargo & sanction on all arms sales to Israel (an ethnostate that has openly been committing genocide for 2+ years & apartheid for over 70 years) was “going too far”. What is going on???????

I adore Hasan but this is verging into celebrity worship. DSA, a mass organization of 130k democratic socialists, unseated these incumbents. Thousands of people who you haven’t heard sacrificing their nights and weekends for the movement.
Hasan Piker realized that his community was able to unseat twice the number of incumbents in the Democratic Party within one election cycle in the House of Representatives than the entire Tea Party movement. Melat Kiros, Darializa Avila Chevalier, Donavan McKinney, Angela Gonzales-Torrez, and possibly, Mai Vang, after her votes are counted, all unseated incumbents. Hasan's community is so impactful.

I can’t *believe* the centrist think tanks, with their hundreds of millions donated to push centrist policy, and their friend in the press who get paid for the same, are publishing laughable analysis claiming centrists beat avg Dems by 20 points. I am truly shocked

Democrats will now control the House and Senate and be able to hold Trump accountable. That's great. At a time of massive income and wealth inequality, we must do more. We must aggressively fight for working families. No more excuses.

Google is trying to use its monopoly power to force AI into our public schools. No corporation should have the power to dictate how we teach our children.  Our public schools exist to serve students, not to grow the profit margins of Big Tech. nytimes.com/2026/11/03/us/go…

Sarah is getting a lot of blame. Why? She’s the only one being transparent and publicizing her decision and her reasoning in a place people can engage with her about it. That is admirable but very difficult, which is why everyone else avoids it. Her decision, however, is 100% correct. Her reasoning is sound (although I disagree with it: Nithya is clearly compliant and her victory would also be a boon for DSA/the left leading into 2028). But I’m most impressed by her choice to be accountable to others and stand publicly by her decision. This is the type of leadership I wish we saw a lot more frequently from the left and the right.
I voted no. here’s why: Raman sucks. I argued against endorsing her. I have repeatedly said if she can’t meet R22 we should expel her. However I felt the resolution presented a self defeating approach: threatening cease and desist, trusteeship of chapter leaders, and dues share

Ok but it didn’t *all* come down to B&R? Seems like R&R’s ‘against unendorsement’ vote is a major factor!
Replying to @petersterne
SOR (4), MUG (3), RS (3) and LSC (1) supported unendorsement. That's 11 votes. SMC (4), GW (5), Carnation (1) and R&R (1) opposed unendorsement. That's 11 votes. So it all came down to B&R's 5 votes, which split: 2 voted for unendorsement and 3 voted against it.
