Canton Senior Keyvin Strand is this week’s South Dakota Riddell Player of the Week for 11-Man Football Keyvin is one of the most selfless players on our team. He consistently puts the needs of the team ahead of his own wants and has never complained about doing whatever role is necessary to help us be successful. He is our lead blocker at fullback and does the dirty work that often does not show up on the stat sheet, willingly blocking play after play to help create opportunities for his teammates. He leads by example, and that example is going hard all the time. His effort and physicality set the tone for those around him, and he is the type of player who makes everyone around him better simply by the way he approaches the game. Against Winner, Keyvin had 20 tackles and was a constant presence around the football. His impact goes well beyond what shows up in the statistics, as he continues to embrace whatever role our team needs from him. Off the field, he has also logged many hours helping our community when we have dealt with flooding and downed trees. He was recently chosen as Homecoming King by the student body, which is another reflection of the respect he has earned from his classmates and teammates. Keyvin is a true team-first player who leads through his actions, competes with tremendous effort, and consistently puts others before himself. Keyvins efforts last week led to 20 tackles, 1 TFL, and 1 sack.” Rich Lundstrom Canton HC Honorable Mentions: Brody Schafer (Sioux Falls Lincoln), Kutler Swenson (Watertown), Ryder Mueller (Brandon Valley). @RiddellSports @domehats @sdfbca
