I became convinced of something that changed the way I looked at Christianity: The faith did not disappear after Acts and reappear at the Reformation. The Christians who came before us prayed liturgically. They baptized. They fasted. They confessed the Creeds. They received the Eucharist. They read Scripture within the life of the Church. I’m Anglican because I believe the Reformation was necessary, but abandoning the ancient Church was not. Catholic in faith. Reformed where reform was needed. Rooted in Scripture. In conversation with the Fathers. That’s the Christianity I want to explore here. If you’re Protestant but increasingly curious about the historic Church, stick around. ☩

I did NOT expect to see the badgers run the ball with power and authority like they used to! Wow, after a dismal offensive 1st quarter, these badgers came out and made a statement! After a #13 road win and a home #16 win, are these badgers ranked?

The more deeply I study the history of the Church, the more persuaded I become that Rome’s claims to universal authority have been among the most persistent sources of division within Christianity. From the tensions that culminated in the Great Schism of 1054 to the upheavals of the Protestant Reformation, the expansion of papal supremacy and the assertion of universal jurisdiction repeatedly strained the Church’s unity. These disputes were not merely political disagreements; they concerned the nature of authority, the limits of tradition, and whether one bishop could exercise supreme jurisdiction over the entire Christian Church. The Bishop of Rome held an important place among the ancient patriarchates, but primacy of honor is not the same as absolute jurisdiction or doctrinal supremacy. Yet Rome is not alone in its departures from ancient Christianity. I believe that Anglican and Lutheran churches, and potentially certain Presbyterian traditions, preserve important elements of the apostolic faith and may represent legitimate expressions of Christ’s Church. Nevertheless, they too must answer for doctrines and practices introduced or altered since the early Church. We cannot condemn Rome for innovation while excusing innovation elsewhere. To be catholic is not simply to claim an ancient name or an unbroken institutional lineage. It is to hold the faith once delivered to the saints; the faith believed “everywhere, always, and by all.” Apostolic succession belongs to the whole Church, not exclusively to Rome. Christ established one holy, catholic, and apostolic Church, not a papal monarchy, nor a collection of denominations free to reinvent Christianity. The measure of the true Church is not its allegiance to Rome, Canterbury, Wittenberg, or Geneva, but its fidelity to the apostolic faith.

Islam is incompatible with Western civilization. It openly calls for our destruction. Liberalism promotes the sissification of the west. It’s rotting away our foundations. Be a man, be bold, stand in truth. Loudly proclaim Christ. Father, Son, and Holy Ghost! Christus Vincit. Christus Regnat. Christus Imperat.

Christ gave His Church BOTH the Bread and the Cup. His Body, given for us. His Blood, shed for the remission of sins. For over 1,000 years, Christians ordinarily received BOTH. Anglicans, Orthodox, and Lutherans preserve this practice. Why does Rome still permit withholding the Chalice from the laity? “Drink ye all of it.” -Matthew 26:27 #HolyCommunion #Christianity

If the Bishop of Rome had remained first among equals, rather than claiming universal jurisdiction, would the East and West ever have separated?

The Anglican Church was not established to baptize the moral fashions of every passing generation. A priest who blesses what Scripture calls sin, celebrates abortion as liberation, or rewrites Christian sexual morality to accommodate the culture is not exercising prophetic courage. He is surrendering the faith entrusted to him. The Church is called to love sinners, not to redefine sin. To proclaim repentance, not dispense with it. To defend the innocent, not rationalize their destruction. We do not possess the authority to correct Christ. The Church must convert the world, not be converted by it. Lex orandi, lex credendi.

Pastor Shelley, you have mistaken iconoclasm for Christianity and destruction for righteousness. You teach children that statues of the Blessed Virgin Mary are idols, yet apparently overlook that God Himself commanded Moses to fashion golden cherubim for the Ark of the Covenant (Exodus 25:18), instructed the construction of a Temple adorned with sacred images (1 Kings 6), and commanded Moses to raise the bronze serpent (Numbers 21:8–9). The Second Commandment forbids idolatry, not the existence of sacred imagery. When the bronze serpent actually became an object of idolatrous worship, Hezekiah destroyed it (2 Kings 18:4). Scripture makes the distinction abundantly clear. And what of the Blessed Virgin Mary? Scripture declares that all generations shall call her blessed (Luke 1:48). Elizabeth, filled with the Holy Ghost, calls her the mother of her Lord (Luke 1:43). Yet you gather children before a congregation and reward them for smashing her likeness. You are not defending Christ by encouraging contempt for His mother. You are not teaching reverence by making destruction a spectacle. And you are certainly not demonstrating Christian charity by training children to mock what fellow Christians hold sacred. You have confused honoring with worship, zeal with righteousness, and vandalism with faithfulness. The Virgin Mary said, “Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it” (John 2:5). Her entire witness directs humanity toward her Son. Perhaps instead of handing children hammers, you should teach them why Scripture calls her blessed.
"We got a Mary, for all the Catholics." At Steadfast Baptist Church, pastor Jonathan Shelley leads the kids into 'bible drills,' with the winner rewarded with smashing statues of Mary and various angelic figures.

1. The Church's one foundation Is Jesus Christ her Lord; She is his new creation, By water and the word; From Heav'n he came and sought her To be his holy bride; With his own blood he bought her, And for her life he died. 2. Elect from ev'ry nation, Yet one o'er all the Earth, Her charter of salvation One Lord, one faith, one birth; One holy name she blesses, Partakes one holy food, And to one hope she presses, With ev'ry grace endued. 3. 'Mid toil and tribulation And tumult of her war, She waits the consummation Of peace forever more; Till with the vision glorious Her longing eyes are blest, And the great Church victorious Shall be the Church at rest. 4. O happy ones and holy! Lord, give us grace that we Like them, the meek and lowly, On high may dwell with thee; There, past the border mountains, Where in sweet vales, the bride With thee, by living fountains, Forever shall abide!
