It’s been awhile since I read 1984. I’m reading it again right now. And it’s incredible how much of it we lived through during “COVID.”

Nails it.
What is being done to Elisabeth Elliott post-mortem is part of a larger trend/movement to revise the biographies of famous Christians to make them gay. It's been attempted with Jonathan and David (they weren't just friends), with Calvin, Theodore Beza, and Machen among others. I've responded to two of these cases. See the next post. Notice that Stell is described as a historian. This is an appeal to authority. This is one move. The fact that Stell is a historian means little. Historians get things wrong regularly. They make mistakes and sometimes they just misrepresent things. Another move is to string together otherwise innocent statements or events and to re-contextualize and sexualize them. Ambiguity is key to this type of revisionism. Statements that weren't originally understood to refer to latent homosexual desire are re-interpreted/re-framed to be sexual in nature. Anyone who objects is denounced as naive or a prude. In the current case the agenda seems rather obvious when Elliott's biographer asks why anyone should care that she allegedly had Lesbian inclinations or affairs? Why? Those of us who read or listened to Elliott know that she's being accused of gross sin and hypocrisy. Unlike her biographer, apparently, we know what God's Word says about male and female homosexuality and we agree with Scripture. These are effectively post-mortem charges that cannot be properly tried. This is tabloid stuff at best. A professionally run secular newspaper wouldn't run this sort of story. The evidence is less than thin. That CT ran this story at all says much more about them than it does about Elliott.

A brilliant schematization.
I was asked to give a lecture next week at a church in Minnesota on what I see as the most pressing issues facing Christians. Here's my rundown I'm working on for my lecture. — The beginning of life: Reproduction and human dignity. — The manufacture of life: Genetic engineering and designer children. — The simulation of life: Artificial intelligence and digital personhood. — The enhancement of life: Transhumanism and human augmentation. — The embodiment of life: Biological sex and bodily identity. — The commodification of life: Surrogacy and reproductive markets. — The manipulation of life: Surveillance, algorithms, and human agency. — The extension of life: Longevity and the pursuit of immortality. — The quality of life: Disability, dependency, and the meaning of dignity. — The end of life: Assisted suicide and euthanasia. In a word: bioethics. The central moral question of our age is increasingly whether human nature is a gift to be received, enhanced beyond our native capacities, or a problem to be solved. Christians need to be prepared to answer it. I am confident that our doctrine of the imago Dei, coupled with the Christian natural law tradition, provides a sufficient basis and bulwark to guide civilization, if civilization will entertain them.

I’d also like to nominate “Soup” for the Hall of Very Clutch.
🚨BREAKING NEWS🚨 Jeff Suppan received 71% of 22,200 votes and is now officially the 99th member of the Hall of Pretty Good!

Listen as @DennyBurk pushes back on @CTmagazine’s claim that the position in their recent essay on Elizabeth Elliot is not at least partially “theologically affirming” of same-sex attraction. The full episode "Defending Elizabeth Elliot" is in the OP below. ⬇️

Dear Missourian, a few reasons here to vote NO on 6. 👇🏻
I read through the MO “citizen”-led amendment 6 initiative petition today and its ballot summary. 🚨 Spoiler alert 🚨: its hot garbage for Missouri. It’s a deceptive, subversive, pernicious threat to our liberties and form of government. 1️⃣ It’s clearly (and cleverly) intended to keep the legislature from bringing challenges to abortion, sports betting, Obamacare, and legal marijuana. All leftist causes that could not succeed in the legislative process, but only through leftist-donor funded campaigns under the guise of “citizen-led” petitions. 2️⃣ In practice, it sets up functional legislation-through-out-of-state-donors and political lobbies, rather than the purported direct democracy, which is pernicious in and of itself (see America’s Founding Fathers). 3️⃣ It assumes the “will of the people” (via direct democracy) is sacrosanct (but only after January 1, 2010!) while assuming the legislature, elected by the people to represent the people, is suspicious. By the way, this is the exact opposite of what the American Founding Fathers thought. 4️⃣ It also enshrines judicial supremacy by giving permission for activist judges to rewrite or revise ballot summaries without any legislative guardrails. Thus, contrary to the stated purpose of protecting the “will of the people,” it removes powers of oversight from elected representatives and hands it to unelected judges. Try squaring that circle. 5️⃣ In violation of both the Missouri and U.S. Constitution (see Judge Green’s decision below), it subverts our republican form of government by replacing it with judicial supremacy and direct democracy. If you care at all about preserving and protecting our freedoms that have been secured through representative democracy (contra direct democracy), and if you don’t want political lobbies legislating through billionaire-funded constitutional amendments (this is what they are calling “democracy”), then vote NO on Amendment 6 in November.

The left has inverted the purpose of the lesser magistrate. Rather than protecting from tyranny, they resist legitimate authority to establish tyranny.

More than 100 elected officials have joined me in calling on parking lot and garage owners across New York City: Don’t give ICE a place to operate. Don’t rent to them. Tell them they’re not welcome. Last week, ICE agents shot Oscar Belgal in the neck in Marble Hill while his 5-year-old son sat in the car. They had been staging nearby in a private parking lot. Our city laws keep ICE off public property. Now, we’re calling on private property owners to do the same. One garage on Morton Street already removed ICE vehicles after neighbors spoke out. Every owner has that power.
