🚨Pay Attention, NC🚨 Meet Jessica Bichler, Democratic candidate for NC Senate District 7. Bichler fussed about an ad depicting her as bonkers for her extreme views—defunding the police, releasing criminals, and free healthcare for illegals—she even sent a cease-and-desist letter over it. But I got my hands on her dissertation. Her own words show the ad's heart was true. 🧵

Great writeup and recommendations here for #ncpol Thanks for sharing, Brian.
Kratom is sold at gas stations, yet federal data tie it to more than 5,200 overdose deaths from 2020 to 2024. One of its compounds can be 13 times stronger than morphine. States do not need to wait on Washington to ban it, writes Kevin Sabet. city-journal.org/article/kra…

So in other words, the story about @SusieWiles was completely made up. Nice to see a correction…
Wiles ‘offered positive reinforcement’ for press secretary’s Fox News interview ahead of her exit, but had no direct role in setting it up. Note: This replaces an earlier post that mischaracterized Wiles’ role in connection with the interview. politi.co/3Wp30Md

Democrat Jamie Ager (NC-11) hosted the drag queen barn dance featuring Sister Dominatrix and Sister Helen Holy in his barn with kids. Last month, Ager wrote a check to Blue Ridge Pride whose family-friendly festival featured Divine Hullern and Will Pounder. Jenny Ager talks like you and me on TV, but he's dancing with they/them.

In a movie full of great lines, Tom Skerritt's advice to Tom Cruise in Top Gun was the apex: "The simple fact is you feel responsible for Goose and you have a confidence problem. Now I'm not gonna sit here and blow sunshine up your ass, Lieutenant. A good pilot is compelled to evaluate what's happened, so he can apply what he's learned. Up there, we gotta push it. That's our job." R.I. P. , Viper. nytimes.com/2026/10/22/arts/…

Final reflections on this embarrassing ordeal. We now have clear, documented evidence of an @TheAssemblyNC reporter obtaining, misrepresenting and weaponizing voter-registration information to devalue a fellow journalist’s work. Is that practice used on readers? Contributors? Subjects of his reporting? No one should be devalued based on this information. But now we see that irrefutably clear methodological partisan bias has been exposed coming from the reporter. The NCSBE lookup requires entering a name to retrieve a record. He says someone supplied the screenshot. He still chose to publish it as evidence *against* her, and it belonged to someone else. The source excuse is meaningless. That is an extraordinary failure of professional judgment. In trying to undermine her credibility, he documented why his own fairness and impartiality deserve scrutiny. That's not within the standards of The Assembly or many other NC reporters, and should be called out. #ncpol

Welp…other than their obvious partisan bias, looks like we now know why @NCCapitol & @WRAL has been so hard on @ncgop public servants who pushed for passage of Iryna’s Law…#ncpol #ncsen
Senior investigative producer at WRAL faces charges of felony stalking and violating a domestic violence protective order. He is being held without bond under North Carolina’s new Iryna’s Law. The latest from Autumn Coleman and @SolomonLexiB. newsobserver.com/news/local/…

But the [maybe timely-to-other-news-today] #ncpol rumor mill is that @NCCapitol has some relatively recent experience hushing up problems via NDAs?

In defense of their “anonymous” reporter, if I worked for @TheAssemblyNC, I would assume my salary was predicated on partisan, biased reporting attacking Republicans & further attacking any #ncpol reporter who dared to question the mental or physical fitness of Dem candidates.
The Assembly's editors are aware of tweets from our reporter that violate our social media policy. These tweets did not meet our organizational standards and are being addressed internally.

My Dad was dying. I asked @wolfpackclub if Amato could call Dad. He did, & it was a special moment. After Dad passed, I ran into Amato & thanked him for the call. He remembered it, got teary & we sat there hugging. THAT is who coach was. He loved people, like V. #GoPack 😔

Today is the start of Syracuse University’s annual Remembrance Week.  35 students studying abroad through the Syracuse University study abroad program returning home for Christmas were among the 259 passengers and crew members killed when a bomb detonated in the forward cargo hold of Pan Am 103 at 31,000 feet over Lockerbie, Scotland on December 21, 1988. 11 residents of Lockerbie were killed on the ground. Each fall, Syracuse University observes Remembrance Week to honor all 270 people lost in the attack. The chairs on the grass in front of Hendricks Chapel represent where each of the students was sitting in the 747 on the night of December 21.  In the wake of the tragedy, Syracuse established the Remembrance Scholarship as a tribute to the students lost, as a way to reflect and move forward in their memory. Every year, scholarships are awarded to 35 seniors, one for each student killed in the bombing.  The scholarship recipients focus on education and service, planning Remembrance Week and teaching the campus community about terrorism.  Honored and extremely humbled to have attended Syracuse University Remembrance Week last year and meet with families who lost loved ones on Pan Am 103.   The man accused of building the bomb that brought down Pan Am 103 was captured by a militia group in Libya in 2022.  He is now in United States custody awaiting trial, almost four decades after the attack.
