Paper designs v/s actual construction supervision. How many sites across Nairobi are operating on hijacked credentials? System ya majambazi!!
Engineer Joseph Muturi Mugu, named by the NCA as the structural engineer behind the collapsed Eastleigh building, has denied responsibility. Through his lawyers, Mugu says he only prepared designs for a proposed 15-storey building and submitted them to the developer. He claims he never received approval or did further work on the project. He has demanded the NCA’s registration records, drawings, approvals and electronic logs to establish who used his credentials. Mugu also wants to know whether the NCA verified his involvement before naming him. He has given the Authority 48 hours to provide the records and issue a clarification.

There has been a lot of conversation about Parliament and the livestreaming of election results. So, what exactly is happening? -In 2024, the Senate passed the Elections (Amendment) (No. 2) Bill, which proposed changes to Section 39 of the Elections Act. This section deals with how election results are determined, transmitted and declared. -Clause 22 of the Senate's Bill proposed replacing the existing Section 39. In the proposed replacement, the specific requirement for IEBC to establish a mechanism for livestreaming results announced at polling stations was missing. -Livestreaming allows Kenyans to watch results being announced at polling stations in real time. It gives the public another way to follow the process and compare what is announced with the results transmitted and published. -Electronic transmission of results is important, but it is not the same as livestreaming. One sends results electronically; the other allows the public to watch the announcement as it happens. -On 22 October 2026, the National Assembly deleted Clause 22 altogether. In its official clarification, Parliament said this preserved the existing Section 39, including the requirement for IEBC to establish a mechanism for livestreaming results announced at polling stations. -According to the National Assembly's clarification, the provision remains under the version passed by the House. However, the Bill must still go through the remaining legislative process before it becomes law. Transparency must be built into the electoral process, not left to assumptions. Kenyans must also be able to follow how votes are counted, how results are verified and how the final outcome is declared. As we approach the 2027 General Election, we must pay attention to the laws governing our elections and demand clarity whenever changes are proposed. An informed public is an essential part of an accountable democracy. #VIP

Kenyans deserve to see how their votes become election results and not simply be told whom to trust. On 22 October 2026, the National Assembly passed the Elections (Amendment) (No. 2) Bill, 2024. Parliament must now publish the approved text and account for its implications for electoral transparency. In the published Bill, Clause 22 replaces section 39 without expressly requiring livestreaming of results announced at polling stations, while retaining electronic transmission and online publication of results forms. That is not a ban on livestreaming. But sending results to election officials and allowing citizens to watch their announcement serve different purposes. Parliament must clarify whether this omission survived the amendments MPs approved. The court history cannot be ignored. On 6 April 2018, in Katiba Institute v Attorney General, the High Court invalidated section 39(1G), which required livestreaming but confined streamed results to public information and excluded them as a basis for declaration. The Court rejected that restriction for undermining electoral transparency and accountability. It did not prohibit livestreaming. The Court of Appeal upheld the invalidation on 6 October 2023 in National Assembly v Katiba Institute. The legislative task is therefore to enact a constitutionally sound obligation and not present an already-invalidated provision as an effective safeguard. Article 86 requires a transparent, verifiable and accountable electoral system, prompt polling-station announcements, and open, accurate collation. Ahead of 2027, Parliament should expressly secure public access to live results announcements, and the IEBC must explain how citizens will follow and scrutinise the process. Electoral reform should make every vote easier to verify, not leave transparency dependent on institutional discretion. The ballot is secret but the count must be open.

We have seen people asking who voted for the Bill. The vote was conducted by acclamation, meaning there is no individual voting record showing how each MP voted.
Kenyan MPs have officially approved a bill removing the legal requirement for the IEBC to livestream results as they are announced at polling stations. The move has raised concerns about transparency ahead of the 2027 General Election

Gen Z job seekers are now ghosting employers after interviews, even after being told they are the preferred candidates. According to one HR manager, a candidate went silent after being selected for a supervisory role. After nearly two weeks of calls and messages, he explained that he had accepted another job with “a better salary and a shorter commute.” Candidates are increasingly considering factors beyond salary, including: — Flexible working arrangements — Medical benefits — Shorter commutes — Career growth opportunities

There are three people in this photograph. I know two of them, so allow me to tell you a story about the power of patience, persistence, and believing in your dreams. On your left is Wafula Wamunyinyi, who was the Member of Parliament for Kanduyi Constituency in 2015. Standing in the middle is Edwin Watenya Sifuna, then a young man seeking an opportunity to address the audience. Sifuna was determined to unseat the incumbent, the very man holding the microphone. At that moment, he was the young man asking for a chance to speak. He had the ambition, the courage and the audacity to believe that one day, he too could occupy positions of greater responsibility. Fast-forward 11 years. The political story has taken a remarkable turn. Wamunyinyi is now crossing political paths to join Sifuna, who has emerged as a leading figure in the Linda Mwananchi Movement and its presidential ambitions. Think about that for a moment! The young man who was once asking for a few minutes at the microphone has grown into a political figure attracting the attention of leaders who once occupied positions he aspired to reach. This is why you must never despise your humble beginnings. You may be the young man asking for an opportunity today. You may be the person nobody takes seriously, the one whose ambitions are dismissed, or the one standing in the shadows while others occupy the stage. Do not give up. Keep learning. Keep working. Keep building your networks. Keep sharpening your skills. Most importantly, keep believing in the vision God has placed in your heart, even when the people around you cannot see what you see. You do not need to be the most powerful person in the room today. You need the discipline to prepare yourself for the opportunities that tomorrow may bring. Edwin Sifuna’s journey reminds us that the person seeking an opportunity today can become the person others seek out tomorrow. Your current position is not a permanent definition of your potential. And remember, success does not happen overnight. Eleven years is a long time. It takes patience, consistency, courage and the willingness to keep moving even when progress seems painfully slow. Young man, young woman, do not abandon your dream simply because your breakthrough has not arrived. Keep grinding. Keep preparing. Keep showing up. One day, the same people who overlooked you may have to acknowledge how far you have travelled. Your assignment is not to prove everyone wrong today. Your assignment is to become so prepared, so disciplined and so committed to your purpose that when your moment comes, you are ready. The future belongs to those who prepare for it. Your story is still being written. Stay guided.

A cyberattack that literally heats store freezers to 50°C and ruins entire supply chains overnight… Modern business risks look completely different now. A tough lesson on why cybersecurity can’t just be an afterthought as we digitise operations.
Over 500 supermarkets in France have been hit by a cyberattack that caused refrigerators and freezers to heat up to 50°C, spoiling fresh and frozen food worth millions of euros. The attack affected major chains, including Carrefour and Intermarché.

I loved these, I’d get them from the ‘Sanford Fish n Chips’ franchise. The fact that these were not in plastic bottles and were ‘only’ available at these places was something I’d look forward to having on special days I’m in tao.
I found this Picana at Mathais in Nyeri. I bought the last 4 that they had. I’ve been looking for them, checked the Mathais in Thika but they don’t have. Anyone know where else I can find them?
