Key figures from @GMB_MPs_Staff's Restore the Floor report: 📈805 staff quit in their first year in 2025/26 🤔 87% have considered leaving ⚠️ 83% have felt unsafe at work I wrote about the threats MPs’ staff face for @LabourList this week 👇 labourlist.org/2026/11/mps-s…
New @GMB_MPs_Staff report out today: the number of MPs’ staff quitting in their first year is up 59% in two years, and half of those who quit now leave within ten months. I wrote about Parliament’s staff crisis for @NewStatesman in June 👇 newstatesman.com/politics/uk…

Wow on Brand: Justice Bennathan: "You’ve been convicted of a number of offences including rape. “The consequence of that is inevitably a significant custodial term. “My current view is that I therefore have to remand you into custody."

83% of MPs' staff have felt unsafe at work. Nobody should face that alone. Over 1,500 staff from every party are organising together in GMB Union for safer, fairer workplaces in Parliament. Work for an MP or Peer? Join us: gmb.org.uk/join-gmb

78% of constituency staff have had threatening calls or messages. Half of MPs’ staff now meet the threshold for psychological distress. No one is responsible for their safety across Parliament. One Parliament, One Employer would change that. #1P1E labourlist.org/2026/11/mps-s…

With rising abuse aimed at MPs, it does feel scary to work in politics. My MP is great and makes sure we’re all looked after - but that may not be a universal experience. I back @GMB_MPs_Staff’s One Parliament One Employer campaign for this reason! labourlist.org/2026/11/mps-s…

Honestly at times, what I see & deal with at work makes me rethink my career choices. Luckily, my office really cares about each other, but I know this isn't universal. Its why @GMB_MPs_Staff campaign for One Parliament, One Employer is so important labourlist.org/2026/11/mps-s…

First one honestly wouldn’t even say deserves a whistle being blown. Second is a yellow at worst. Shocking from the ref
Oldham were reduced to 9 men in the first-half after the referee showed two red cards! 🔴🔴👋🏻👋🏻

These were BOTH straight red cards? 😭😭 No wonder the Oldham fans were livid.

Absolute legend of a man, and one of my favourite actors in so many things. One of my proudest moments in my career was working with Sir Patrick when he endorsed @TracyBrabin when she was elected Mayor in 2021, which was an amazing experience. RIP to an absolute legend of a man

MPs’ offices have changed, but the way staff are employed has not. @GMB_union is calling on MPs to support their One Parliament One Employer campaign for a single, central employer for Parliament. Partner Content

My Budget today will help families with the pressures they face now. It will back businesses and entrepreneurs, invest in Britain's future, and strengthen our national security. A plan to get through this moment and build a stronger Britain.

Hahahahah marginal tax rate of 57% god the system is broken for graduates
Most tax calculators tell you how much tax you pay *now*. Ours also shows how much tax you'll pay on your next £1. Your marginal rate. We'll be publishing straight after the Budget. But here's a preview - I'd love to get feedback. taxpolicy.org.uk/uk-tax-calc…

The list sent by Harold Wilson to his cabinet of “little things that mean a lot”, including the protection of pubs, concessionary fares for the elderly, empty office blocks and “the future of the pint”. Echoes of this in Burnham’s small but popular policies today.

When I met Angela Rayner to campaign for change to overly aggressive council tax debt collection, with its unprecedented rapid escalation to balliffs, she nodded like most politicians do. I explained it was destructive for individuals, councils and the economy. She listened more then said she'd change it. I was sceptical. Yet a consultation was launched within weeks and delightfully the change announced within 18mths (its in place from next April) - bullet train pace for politics. I've a rule that if I campaign for a politician (of any party) to do something, and they do it, I say thank you. Its important to recognise it. So thank you so much Angela Rayner for listening and more importantly acting. The changes coming are a great start.
I promised we'd make council tax fairer, and I’m getting on with the job. Too many working people have seen council tax debt spiral before they had the chance to get help. That's why we're introducing more time to pay, clearer warnings if you miss a payment and more support from councils. Thanks to @MartinSLewis and @mmhpi for their tireless campaigning to make this change happen. Here's everything you need to know ⬇️
