Gatekeeping is necessary if you want to protect your hobby. Every anime or game with a healthy fandom actively filtered the antis.
They show up fast and will ruin things if you don’t push back.
What’s also concerning is the attempt to erase concepts entirely — tomboy erasure is real and I’ve seen it multiple times. Same thing with femboy erasure.
Antis can’t engage with media without forcing politics into it. It’s beyond them.

She explained that the decision to use an actor’s likeness is made by the developers, not the actor; for her, looking different from the character makes it easier to fully get into the role.
She also admitted that using her face for Callisto in Marvel’s Wolverine was a mistake.
“That choice is made by the game designers, not me. I like games where my face is not used.”
