After a fruitless afternoon of discussing how we rationalise our annual leave policy, I thought surely artificial intelligence can shine some light 🤔…
Had one of my best views of Mercury this morning as I got to work. Not easy to see at the best of times but currently around it's greatest western elongation so that helps as it's furthest away from the Sun in the sky flic.kr/p/2p4CJzz
Great work @SebHaggett !

Well said @RoshanaMN ! I rarely tweet about the day job I love, but am appalled by the extent of this abuse in surgery. Working in theatre should be a joy. To be clear, if you satisfy your fragile libido or power-trip in the surgical workplace you belong in the dock, not theatre

This is a crop of a wider image, and shows the red planet on it's descent behind the eastern lunar limb captured last night from home. Sinus Gomer is central with Syrtis Major at top. See thread for processing. What an event!#astrophotography

Mars from last night with my new PlayerOne Uranus-C colour camera - which worked out really well. Nicely centred on the prominent dark wedge of Syrtis Major with the huge Hellas basin above. Home-built 444mm Dobsonian on home-built eq. platform

#Jupiter on September 6th. damianpeach.com/jup21/2021-0… Another collaboration with Rico. This data was previously unprocessed. Be sure to check the full res image - some very fine details visible. Certainly among the best ground based results of recent years i think.

#Jupiter with GRS and trio of moons. damianpeach.com/jup21/2021-0… Some very good seeing. Ganymede, Io and Europa alongside the planet. The GRS measures 15,138km across its horizontal axis at present - well under half the size it was in the 1890s!

Weather's looking poor today but I'm content with the fantastic view of Jupiter and Saturn approaching the Great conjunction I got last night. This image was taken with my C14 telescope using an effective focal length of 2470mm. A tight fit!
Best I could do with phone and eyepiece projection but here's Jupiter, Galilean moons and Saturn tonight about 1644UT

#Mars near close approach for 2020 on October 7th at a distance of 35.8 million miles. damianpeach.com/mars2020/m20… To give an idea of how far that is, driving in a car at a steady 60mph would take 68yrs to complete the journey!
