🚨 New Episode: The Political AI Arms Race: How Artificial Intelligence is Transforming Campaigns, Advertising, & Persuasion
Who’s getting ahead in the political AI arms race—and what happens when AI helps create the campaign message and becomes the filter through which voters receive it?
I'm joined by @JustinGermany, founder of Outlaw Media and veteran ad-maker from the Bush-Cheney and McCain presidential campaigns, and Julie Sweet, Director of Advocacy & Industry Relations at the American Association of Political Consultants and former Democratic political consultant.
From real AI-generated commercials to new research on which party is winning the AI arms race and how AI disclaimers affect voter trust, this conversation explores what the technology can do, where it creates friction, and why experience and human judgment still matter.
Justin Germany, founder of Outlaw Media and veteran ad-maker from the Bush-Cheney and McCain presidential campaigns, and Julie Sweet, Director of Advocacy & Industry Relations at the American Association of Political Consultants.
The episode explores:
• Who’s ahead—and where: Republicans’ early-adoption advantage, how both parties are adapting, and where Democrat organizations are getting their material into AI-generated candidate answers.
• Inside the creative process: Justin breaks down how he created the first-ever 100% AI-generated television ad, how the technology is advancing, and explains why making an AI ad still requires a director, not just a prompt.
• The new information filter: How chatbots, AI search summaries, and personal assistants could change what voters learn about candidates.
• Satire, deception, & disclaimers: What Julie’s research reveals about voter trust—and why labeling something “AI-generated” may not explain what viewers are actually seeing.
• The less-visible battle: How model refusals, political free speech, and data privacy affect the work happening behind the scenes.
PLUS: Stay to the end for a look toward 2028—personalized political messages, synthetic influencers, and AI agents that could change how campaigns and voters interact.

This one of the most brutal debate clips I've ever seen.
Zach Lahn just ended Rob Sand's entire campaign in less than two minutes.

I’ve warned so many times. You all took the wrong lessons from the Pratt campaign. AI didn’t make Spencer popular. Spencer made AI popular. It doesn’t work. This stuff is all so cringe.

Disaster poll for Rob Sand, who Fox had up nine. Lahn favs are right side up despite millions spent lying about Kansas and Rob’s net fav is below 50 and collapsing to his ballot. Still lots of work to be done, but the race raters are on track to look very dumb yet again.

Now he just profits off of pieces of chickens being turned into cancer causing nitrate fertilizers!
Catching chickens (capons, to be exact) may not be important to Rob anymore, but Iowa is. #TeamSand

ALT Rob Sand is speaking in three images, standing in front of a campaign banner for "ROB SAND GOVERNOR FOR ALL." In the first image, they say, "When I was growing up, four important parts of my upbringing were:" In the second image, the text continues, "going to church, fishing, hunting, and my first job, which was catching chickens." The final image reads, "Three of those four things are still important parts of my life today." An Iowa flag is visible in the background.

Rob Sand’s wife runs one of the largest privately held chemical companies in the Midwest. She’s a billionaire and Rob’s life is entirely subsidized by her. And those chemicals? They include cancer-causing nitrates. Rob Sand isn’t just a billionaire. He’s the King of Cancer.
It’s very clear that @RobSandIA’s campaign lies to every journalist and voter they see.
Today, yet another story they planted lying about me and my family was completely deleted.
It’s deceitful. But it’s also amateurish and unprofessional.
Rob thinks he’s the smartest guy in the room, but he’s running a campaign of shallow lies staffed by amateurs. Iowans see through it.
“Aircraft data suggests Lahn spends only about 20 percent of his time on the Iowa farm, located near Buckeye Creek, that features in his promotional material.”
Iowans don’t want a part-time governor. #IAGov dailymail.com/news/us-politi…

@RobSandIA last week: Illegal immigrants are Iowans.
Also Rob last week: sixth generation Iowans are not Iowans.
Iowans the choice couldn’t be any more clear.
IOWA FIRST - LFG

🚨Just in: Zack Lahn has officially won the Iowa Republican Primary for Governor defeating Congressman Randy Feenstra
Zach Lahn will go on to face Rob Sand in the general election
Congratulations @ZachLahn
Just another average workday. 4 different LLMs open. 3 AI Imag/video aggregator sites (multiple accounts of the same platform) and Kling open. Oh and Suno too.
This is a tremendous achievement in one week. It kept my attention. AI video is a runaway freight train folks.
It seems like every use of video AI is either a fight scene, Hollywood IP infringement, anime, weird sci-fi or a fake influencer. This pulls the heartstrings - and is part of a bigger public affairs campaign. Made with Kling 3.0

not all face uploads are blocked. it rejects real human photos but accepts AI-generated character portraits as reference images. i used a single generated front-view portrait and got 8 consistent shots across multiple camera angles and emotional transitions in one generation. the workaround is to generate your character ref instead of uploading a real photo.
