The Titans' GM told the Giants' GM there would be no trade for Jeffery Simmons. John Harbaugh was not amused. My column for @TheAthletic

With the loss by Kyler Murray and the Vikings today, the longest active winning streak for a starting QB is JJ McCarthy with 5 straight

Alright, it comes down to compensation now. As long as it’s not a first, I’m in.
1) His contract isn’t nearly as bad as I thought. I don’t see the decline, i see him on that shitty Daniel Jones offense where everyone knows he’s getting the ball and he’s fucked from the jump. High-character guy who takes his body/recovery seriously.
2) Next year the offense is like 1-2 IDL from being a top-tier unit, and its fine-good now (he’ll make them better too).
3) Not super long-term; it’s basically a 2-year deal and the last year is super team-friendly and could cut/deal him. Skatt deserves to be involved and will naturally keep the workload lighter.
4) Offense of Leek, Likely, and JT is such a nasty trio of star players, which you need to win games.
5) You guys are still underrating what an RB can do for an offense.
Again, depends on compensation, but I’m not pissing my diaper at adding Jonathan Taylor.
It's a team friendly contract on the back half of this deal, and even though the numbers are down from the ridiculous pace he was on last year, he's got the 2nd lowest yards before contact in the NFL. An upgraded OL for him should do wonders as would Greg Roman.
He's still got a lot of tread on his tires and positional value isn't there, but as long as there isn't a 1st involved, I'm not going to be too mad at it.

In an unusual move, Giants head coach John Harbaugh called Titans owner Amy Adams Strunk directly in an attempt to trade for All Pro DT Jeffery Simmons. Obviously, it didn’t work. My latest What I’m Hearing column at @TheAthletic nytimes.com/athletic/7740323…

Another week. Another dj reader appreciation post. I really can’t find a better deal on the DT Market right now, he’s playing way above his contract - so glad we got him next year too. Such an important part piece of this early success

BREAKING: CFTC staff have reportedly been told to retract their analysis of suspicious oil trades.
They include well-timed bets on oil futures placed shortly before major Trump announcements on the Iran war.
In one case, investors placed roughly $950 million in oil bets just hours before the April 7 ceasefire announcement.

Giants scored 63 in the last two games.
Jameis: 576 yards, 6 TD
Nabers: 17 rec, 233 yards, 2 TD
Likely: 18 rec, 150, 2 TD
RBs: 49 car, 128 yards, 2.8 YPC, 0 TDs, 2 fumbles lost
This is a pass-first offense. That means you come out with pass first, not just wait until you go down by two scores like vs ARI&WAs
