I tested the Flexbar (2K OLED touch bar for Win/Mac/Linux) as a developer, here’s my take: It’s basically a programmable execution layer for your workflow. ✔ Run builds ✔ Trigger VSCode tasks ✔ Git add/commit/push in one tap ✔ Start/stop Docker ✔ Automate test → build → deploy sequences ✔ Display CPU / system metrics live The JavaScript-based SDK is the real power move you can connect your own APIs and turn it into a live dev dashboard. But if you’re the kind of dev who automates everything and optimizes micro-friction this is genuinely powerful.

We are gathered here tonight to lay to rest SwiftUI. It was a powerful framework, letting us ship faster than we could have dreamed prior to 2019. In 2025, twin technological waves conspired to negate its power, and compelled me to rediscover a lost love. “Am I production ready yet?” — SwiftUI, 2019-2025. RIP. Read it here 🪦 blog.jacobstechtavern.com/p/…

I’m so excited to share the new FoundationModels framework! It gives you access to an on-device LLM with open prompting, structured output, tool calling, and more. Make sure to watch the Platforms State of the Union at 1PM PST, to learn more! #WWDC25 developer.apple.com/news/?id…

Is @Google backing away from #Flutter? I'm worried. The framework feels like it's stagnating pretty hard and a lot of big and small problems are being completely ignored. Also the built in widgets offering is getting messy and no one is cleaning it up. Examples in replies

What a joke of Open Source project is aws-amplify... Feb 2021, I open a PR to aws-amplify/amplify-js, which I will never use, to fix a misusage of the History API that breaks any app relying on history state. It's a ONE line fix. 8 months later, 1st reply from one of the maintainers closed the issue with an explanation, then, after my reply, they reopened and said they would take a look later on. 2 YEARS later, a different maintainer closed the issue, stating they didn't plan to merge and that they recommended I update the version, except I already stated I don't use this library myself. I say to myself, "Cool, they fixed it in a new major". Nope! The same line is still there: github.com/aws-amplify/ampli… What's the point of Open Sourcing your library if you don't even care about the contributions others make...

We just published a new post to @SpotifyEng’s blog describing how we migrated the Spotify iOS app to build with Bazel over the last year and decreased our build times by up to 4x. I hope you’ll find it useful! engineering.atspotify.com/20…

Today at WWDC we introduced a new static linker. It is a ground-up rewrite that’s up to 5x faster than ld64. The new linker is written with multicore in mind, and it’s the first production ready parallel linker officially supported for iOS development. (1/n)

Today marks the end of an era. Sadly, we've been forced to pull Twitterrific from both the iOS and Mac App Stores. Twitter’s unexplained revocation of our API access has left the app with no path forward. Please read our blog for more information🖖 blog.iconfactory.com/2023/01…

AFNetworking is now officially deprecated. Direct integration, forking, or transitioning to Alamofire is recommended moving forward. Thanks for your support over the last decade!

7 mobile eng industry predictions after months of research for my book, Building Mobile Apps at Scale: 1. Kotlin Multiplatform will become the de facto *native* way to share code between iOS and Android. KMM is maturing rapidly & is easy for iOS engineers to also pick it up.
