New: I spoke with @sundarpichai about Google's commitment to the AI frontier, how close we are to RSI, balancing DeepMind's compute needs vs. Google Cloud profits, and much, much more.

Google CEO @sundarpichai: “The compute we have today is a function of decisions I made in 2024.”
“If today a customer is coming out and asking us for compute in '27, that is incredibly difficult to do.”
Most interesting part of my conversation w/ Sundar Pichai: How he balances compute between AI research and Google Cloud.
"Our cloud business is at any given moment in time forgoing short-term revenues because we are making compute tradeoffs to support frontier AI development."

Google’s CEO @sundarpichai on AI risk:
“There are clear gaps.”
“It’s reasonable to be worried.”

One of the most fascinating conversations on AI right now.
What stood out to me is Google's willingness to sacrifice short-term Cloud revenue to give DeepMind the computing power it needs.
Think about that. Google is choosing to invest in tomorrow's AI breakthroughs over profits it could earn today.
And when Sundar Pichai talks about compute scarcity, recursive self-improvement and the future of AI agents, you realise just how early we still are.
Excellent conversation by @Kantrowitz. Worth your time.

Last year: 25% of Google’s code was written by AI.
This year? @sundarpichai shares an update:

Alex @Kantrowitz Big Tech Podcast has been on a heater - it just dropped one with Google’s Sundar Pichai.
Alex asks if GCP is sold out to 2028, ala AWS.👇
“Yeah…today, if a customer is asking us for compute in ‘27, that is incredibly difficult to do… we are at early stages of the most consequential technology ever.” -@sundarpichai 👀

My new book, Co-Existence, is out today. It is a guide to how to live & work in a world where AI is sometimes, but not always, better than you.
(And, for the release, I worked with Opus 5.5 to make a quite interesting experience for the book's website: co-existence.ai/)
I spoke with @kevinroose about the bumpy road to AGI in Big Technology Podcast's first interview recorded at @Nasdaq. Many more to come. Check it out: youtu.be/TmMYvtp4abI?si=CtHI…
