All this true patriot garbage is really pissing me off. Over 18 years service for Queen/King and Country and yet because I don't support reform I'm not a true patriot. Being self serving and not working as a team gets people killed in my line of work. I guess in yours it gets clicks!
Welcome @AndrewRosindell A great champion of Romford, a true patriot and now Reform MP! 🚀

As the prophecy foretold
“I don’t care if he’s the Chair of the Defence Select Committee” A churlish and ill-tempered outing from Wes Streeting at the Despatch Box as he undermines Tan Dhesi and the Labour-chaired Defence Select Committee that holds the Defence Secretary to account. This is entirely the wrong tone to adopt.

Zia Yusuf is an appalling human being but he’s British and Alastair Campbell is implying that he’s REALLY Sri Lankan. And, as with Raheem Kassam’s racism re Kemi, that’s not in any way okay.
I have heard it from far better people than you and they were wrong too. What I enjoyed was seeing you running away from an argument about Brexit because you would rather talk about anything else. And I loved the smile being wiped from your face when the young woman tore apart your net zero BS. You’ve not nice suits and nice shoes but you’ve got more chance captaining the Sri Lankan cricket team than you have of becoming Home Secretary.

We are. 10y Gilt still yields approx 37bp over a 10y Treasury. V much still a risk premium priced.

Indeed. This is what poorly thought through regulation does. This set of changes has made us poorer. This will particularly hit young people. Governments doing real damage.
Brutal judgement from the OBR on the supply side frictions that have made UK house-building unviable across many sites.

A Labour MP says: "If the shit hits the fan, and we haven’t funded defence properly because of the ridiculously high welfare budget - it’ll be tragic. Putin isn’t waiting. Defence deters."
6am: Healey tells BBC he will bring down benefits bill before election 8:20: Treasury dispute the story 1pm: No10 disown it saying they have never set a target 2pm: PM says cuts as soon as possible 4pm: Healey says Labour won't bring bill down this Parliament

We cannot keep delaying vital decisions on defence spending. Our welfare bill is too high while our Armed Forces urgently need investment. The world is becoming more dangerous. We must fund our commitment to spend 3% of GDP on defence. National security isn’t optional. It’s the first duty of government.

It's like I wrote yesterday. This is not sustainable. And Ministers know it's not sustainable. Which is why they must be planning for a snap election. You can't seriously govern like this.

This is astounding. The government's own figures show working-age welfare will go up by £60 BILLION by 2030, yet the Treasury has to rush out and correct the Chancellor to say there is no timetable for cutting the benefits bill. Looks like foot in mouth syndrome is spreading. John Healey couldn't even find £10 billion to get defence spending to 3% of GDP - the thing he quit over. Don't let anyone tell you this was a 'do no harm budget'. In doing so little, Labour have harmed our economic security and they've harmed our national security.

Fair question. And it raises another issue. It's not just that Labour is now putting welfare ahead of defence. With Healey's latest statement, they're putting welfare before many other priorities. Education. Health. Policing. The welfare budget has effectively been ring fenced.
So how on earth are Labour going to pay for 3% on Defence?

Brilliant stuff from Tony Sewell in the @thetimes today. He’s absolutely right to say the people pushing reparations are political elites in these countries who want to blame Britain than fix problems in their own countries, with our useful-idiot activists over here egging them on. If you haven’t read it, or don’t have a sub buy a copy. An essential read 👇

“Could he just outline where that reallocated capital spending will come from?” Cue this rant at the Despatch Box from Wes Streeting to hide his discomfort at not knowing the answer to a straightforward question. Stroppy, brittle and clearly not across the detail. Today the new Defence Secretary was found out. Perhaps he should spend less time on his profile and more time getting on top of his brief? The questions haven’t even got difficult yet.

You are literally cutting the defence budget
The Tories chose to hollow out Britain's armed forces. Labour chooses to defend our country.

Bridget, telling lies is a breach of the Ministerial Code. It's well known from your time as Education Secretary (before your demotion!) that you struggle with the truth. As the then junior minister responsible for financial services regulation, I was not even remotely a 'co-author' of the mini budget. I did not see it until the night before. I’m flattered that my decades of real-world business experience outside Westminster trigger so many Labour MPs. It’ll be useful when the next Conservative government has to clean up your mess! (P.S. Mortgage rates are higher now than in 2022…)
Badenoch’s right-hand man is in denial over the damage he did as co-author of Truss's mortgage-spiralling mini-Budget. The Tories still haven’t apologised. They'd do it all over again. Labour is giving people breathing space on the cost of living and fresh hope for the future.

@Nigel_Farage saying he didn’t go to the budget because he was worried about a “physical altercation” because of a little skirmish with @CarolineVoaden is one of the most pathetic things I have ever heard in my life. What a wimp. Is he admitting he is scared of Caroline bleeding Voaden? A harmless Lib Dem in her late 50s? Maybe there is a crisis of masculinity after all. 🙄

Robert Jenrick loosing his seat will be glorious.
Robert Jenrick literally claims the phrase "Nigerian Scammer" is not racist. As I said, it's clear what the benchmark for racism within Reform is now. This isn't some obscure councillor. It's a senior MP.
