TW - discriminatory image My son wasn’t diagnosed with a “level” of autism (thank goodness) but out of curiosity I did some searching. I found this: Image shows “level 1” a child with a disgruntled expression, folding her arms.

He also talks our bloody ears off about his special interests because he loves us and that’s his love language. We know that NT people all have different moods and different love languages…

Yet when you are autistic it’s all “because of the autism”. Autistic people are bloody brilliant, varied, expressive, deeply feeling and thinking individuals, just as much as anyone else. Let’s please stop representing them as flat one dimensional beings.

#ActuallyAutistic people of Twitter - I need your advice. My son is very anxious about death, especially what it feels like to be dead. His sister is disabled and this all stems from when she first got sick 2 years ago. He also had a grandparent die when he was 3…

However he is now fixated on the “nothingness” of it. He says he thinks about it every day. What should I do? He’s very scientifically minded - is there a better explanation or video I could show him?

Or therapy/counselling? He says he can only talk about it for 10 minutes and he’s ok with it being me or his dad he talks to. But what else can we say that will help him understand/process/not fear this?

Oh, the kindness of strangers! I just cannot comprehend how many people have sent (literally and metaphorically) gestures of love to my one little boy in the midlands of England. Thank you @rosieclarke and your lovely daughter for the joy this has brought us.

Who’s ready for some Special Interest Spam? Buckle up! My #actuallyautistic son has been collecting stuff for years. His collection has been stuffed into the drawers under his bed or getting dusty on the top of his wardrobe. Until today!

The mum of an autistic boy from England @KateEYT has captivated the social media with her creativity. Kate's son constantly collects things and brings them into the house: from buttons to fragments of ceramic tiles.

Channelling @jo3grace this week with 2 plaits! The amount of “We’re matching! We’re Elsa!” cries this elicited was joyful! Matching hairstyles is something a colleague taught me and it has huge wellbeing impacts for some children💚 #earlyyears #edutwitter

“I literally just had the best idea for my collection!” followed by a 15 minute info-dump about sycamore seeds. Since we displayed the collection he has been so excited about categorising. We have a task ahead of us now 😂 😍( blurry photo because he was excitedly stimming!)
