Don’t hate me.
But surgical research in the UK needs to move away from audit, service evaluation and health services research.
And do a bit more science.
Collaboratively.

A response to Dr Peter Hilton – and all those who share his abhorrent views.

ALT Statement reads: The attitudes demonstrated in your letter, are part of the problem we are working to eradicate. Our colleagues have been bravely sharing their experiences of sexual harassment and assault, and it is unfathomable that you would respond as you have, but it clearly demonstrates the problem we face. We call on all our members to check their biases, conscious and unconscious, and remind them that we are committed to condemn, call out and report this behaviour. We will not tolerate sexual misconduct of any kind, or bullying, in our profession, and we will continue to work closely with others to ensure change happens
Literally 100s of women have shared their experiences
There are no doubt 100/ 1000s more who have not
If you wonder why women don't come forward about these issues- read this letter @thetimes

I am ashamed that this man used to be part of my profession. Medicine isn't alone, it doesn't make it right, or to be excused because it's 'difficult' to talk about. Perhaps he thinks 'girls' should all stay at home and not be heard.
This will NEVER happen in my theatre.

This is fantastic! Surgeons need to do a better job framing these complex challenges and plotting a path forward to safely and effectively inform decision making.

Meet @TheBMA,talk & ensure
*Free parking
*Free food
*Rotas on time
*Subsidise exams
*Ensure great training
* Speak positively about them
*& promise to work on a solution when there is better economic growth
I have the utmost respect for junior doctors, but the @BMA_JuniorDocs' demand for a 35% pay rise is unreasonable.
I remain ready to meet the BMA as soon as they call off strikes and put forward a realistic proposal.

Our NHS junior doctors are the backbone of the medical workforce. We need them. You need them. We’ve cancelled all
clinics. 1/4 have suicidal thoughts. 1/5 depressed. 30% don’t make it to a senior position. Is the media disinterested, or have I missed something? This matters.

I hate the idea of doctors striking, but I hate what the government has done to the NHS even more ( and it’s not only a question of under-funding). So if I was still in the NHS, I would support the junior doctors.

Over the next three days our junior doctors are going on strike. They do not do this lightly.

@DunelmUK, and suggest that most mums will not be delighted with a tablecloth for Mother’s Day. I think most mums want an end to the gender pay gap, equitable access to affordable childcare, and a BREAK. I’m not so sure they want table linen.

Just seen an email from @ChelwestFT saying that covering juniors work during the day cannot be paid at enhanced rates as would be double payment. Allow me to assist to correct this error. Please retweet widely.
