MIKE ZAMBELLI
The @sectv broadcaster continues our salute to the new District 11 Hall of Fame inductees. I grew up watching Mike play football & basketball for @asddieruff in a special era for Allentown sports. It has been an honor to get to know one of my idols. He is most deserving of this HOF selection.
POWERFUL PARKLAND
It’s another EPC girls volleyball title for Parkland. Trojans beat Becahi 25-22, 25-22, 26-24 in the finals at Northampton. It is the program’s 12th league championship but first since 2023.
SOUTHERN LEHIGH SWEEPS
Notre Dame-Green Pond 3-0 to win the Colonial League girls volleyball championship. 25-21, 25-13, 26-24 wee the scores. @SolehiSpartans scored the last 5 points after trailing 24-21.
PICKS VIDEO
Special thanks to Jim Sebesta for holding the phone for the longest video of the year after he also did the first video that got deleted. And extra special thanks to the Piston family for doing this a 2nd time. They are one of the great families in local sports.
PISTONS, part 2
A few weeks ago, I accidentally deleted a prediction video featuring Cathy and Steve Piston and I was determined to try it again. And we got a bonus with their son Adam participating. So we have plenty of Parkland-Whitehall flavor in our video with the Zephs and Trojans meeting Friday night.
GOOD GOING GUO
Moravian Academy is playing @ACCHSVikings for the 2A girls team tennis 🎾 title today. No word on the outcome, but MA’s Vicky Guo teamed with Annemarie Andres to win the D11 doubles title last week after having to retire from the singles final 2 weeks ago.
Still waiting to hear what happened today at Lehigh
TROJANS TRIUMPHS
The @ParklandAthlet1 girls tennis 🎾 team is going for District 11 team gold today. From last week here is coach Candace Young and doubles champs Sadie Pollard and Sonia Lee.
SUPER STEVE
We’ll end today’s District 11 Hall of Fame tributes — a few more tomorrow — with legendary @EastonFootball coach Steve Shiffert. What I liked most about Steve is that he was the same guy, win or lose. Well-deserved inductee.
FRANK YELINKO
He was a great baseball coach and Bill Paulik’s right-hand man with boys basketball at Salisbury. Lost him way too soon. He was repped at the District 11 HOF banquet by Chris and Tim Roth and his grandson, Tyler Wuersta.
MIKE SEIP
Continuing with the week-long salute to the new District 11 Hall of Fame inductees. Here is @asddieruff grad and legendary @EHS_Hornets swim coach Mike Seip.
MVP! MVP!
@Becahi_Hawks girls volleyball standouts @jocelynbell2027 and @p_ruggiero22 are the EPC’s co-MVPs this season. But what they want more than anything is to EPC champs •.
PARKLAND PUNCTUATION
Interviews with several @ParklandAthlet1 volleyball standouts Zoey Leach, Alex Serina and Riley Schilling after last night’s 5-set win over Liberty.
NET GAINS
@Becahi_Hawks and @ParklandAthlet1 posted EPC girls volleyball semifinal wins last night and will meet for the title at 7 pm Thursday. A look at their semifinal wins and the EPC all-star teams.
