It's not even a mindset, it's genuine low IQ morons who get some sort of primal satisfaction from watching people get hurt. Spanish football fans (for example) enjoy watching football for the technical brilliance, even in lower leagues, but English lower league fans have nothing but spite for talented footballers and just want to see people kicking the shit out of each other.
That's why all they can say is the "games gone soft"

No English manager has ever won the Premier League. No World cup since 66. No Euros either. The fans celebrate these sort of tackles and call it passion. Rotten culture

You prefer it because you've been socialised by your footballing culture to like it.
And the rest of the footballing world has told you for the longest time that the footballing identity in this country is a complete joke and still stuck in the past.
Ask yourself this....

People are entitled to like what they want I prefer watching a more physical game. The numbers don't lie more people watch english football than other leagues
I'll be deadly honest with you.
This country's cultural lens and identity on football should be seen as a shame to the world.
Still fundamentally a neanderthal level of mindset in regards to football.
And they wonder why they don't win anything on the international level.
