Ex-Mayor Sim's October plebescite questions are on their way to the scrapheap of oblivion and historical curiosity.
Voters smelled something from Sim and ABC that they didn't like. Sim's MAGA-bro-adjacent antics and ideas; nastiness and cruelty; comfy middle-class outlook; and clearly anti-bike lane votes (always a loser). Bring on the real Vancouver.
A stunning result with #Vancouver City Council now run by 5 Greens and 4 COPE councilors. ABC was shown the door. All Capital Plan funding questions passed. The weird ABC Plebiscite results, now mostly a historical oddity, will show up Oct 21.
Prep for #Vancouver civic #election. Starting with 56-long council candidate list. Eliminate or include some by party. Add a few I know personally or from previous lives. Cross-check platforms, espec transportation and housing.
Mind already numb, refusing to function further.
So is this a hate crime?
The cowardly act that took place at Tk'emlúps te Secwépemc yesterday is abhorrent. It has no place in this country. My thoughts are with everyone who is shaken and hurt by this disgusting display of hate.
This week, we will mark the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. It is a stark reminder of our shared responsibility to confront the devastating legacy of the residential school system and the consequences still felt today. Courageous Survivors shared the truth, so that all Canadians could take up the work of reconciliation.
There's a new version of this post
So is this a hate crime?
Attack vector: Bozo eruptions like this show who the Conservatives really are. Vote for me.
I made a mistake earlier today that I’d like to clarify. I said Conservative Sheldon Clare amplified an image that shows B.C. as a “US protectorate." That was, in fact, his colleague David Williams. Sheldon Clare was the Conservative who last week said municipal representatives need “hanging." Apologies for the mixup.
What will Big Donnie do to try and disrupt the Canadian Investment Summit coming up next week. Maybe some threats? Tariffs?
Oakridge Park has a cavernous parking lot, and valet service, including this waiting area so you don't have to schlep your stuff out to the car.
The Oakridge Park food court (Time Out Market) was the only busy place in the mall. The range is breathtaking, but don't expect cheap.
Oakridge Park: I went there today with Sylvia.
Quick impressions: Asian, huge, expensive. A gamble as to whether it survives.
Packed and busy food court. Spectacular variety and quality.
Plenty that we did not see: the park, the unopened lower mall level, residential areas.

Newly arrived in our brave new world, the Coffee Robot, at 1157 Davie St. just east of Bute. "Drink your mood" it urges. it's app-powered and a product of Hestia Robotics.
Hopefully in operation soon so that people can further reduce human interaction from their lives.
Great write-up at the Hestia Robotics web site: Coffee Robot C1 Pro. The web site describes "dual independent milk frothing systems", plus a wildly optimistic pro-forma.
The Apple store shows an app screen listing coffee choices that cost $20.

FIFA.cation of #Vancouver. Fortress FIFA's cash machine (a.k.a. BC Place Stadium) gets decorative fence covers. Elsewhere, banks of airport-style scanners await spectators.
