Excited to share our new preprint! ChromE-seq reads 3D chromatin and gene expression in one cell. Across ~400,000 human primary cells, B lineage has the fewest chromatin loops and is most perturbed in trisomy 21, driving the B-cell block in Down syndrome.

🧬 Happy to share our new study in @BloodAdvances! Many inherited cancer predisposition genes only cause disease once a second mutation arrives. We tested that directly, combining CRISPR editing of human primary blood stem cells with xenotransplantation.🧵doi.org/10.1182/bloodadvance…

Today in @NatRevDrugDisc (#NRDD), we proudly present a timely Perspective on the overall druggable landscape of RNA-binding proteins (RBPs), with a strong emphasis on the recent and exciting scientific advances around cell surface RBPs (csRBPs) in disease.
Many congratulations and a big thank you to my absolutely amazing colleague @GaiaTimote98110 for putting this inspiring piece together, as well as to my fantastic collaborators and key experts in the field, @AbdelWahablab, Ryan Flynn, and Benson George for their very important contributions!
We hope that our Perspective will benefit the wider scientific community by providing a clearer understanding of the therapeutic potential of targeting RBPs and csRBPs.

Using base-editor screens, we reveal how individual residues within the intrinsically disordered region of YTHDF2 control protein interactions, condensate recruitment, and m⁶A-dependent mRNA decay.

Why is glutathione, rather than cysteine, the major cellular thiol? Our new work by @ToshiNakamura51 suggests unlike other amino acids, excess cysteine is intrinsically toxic to mammalian cells via mitochondrial iron accumulation. @RockefellerUniv

I am thrilled to share that I've received a NHLBI K08 Career Development Award — "The Role of Zbtb1 in Normal and Clonal Hematopoiesis."
As an immigrant physician-scientist, this was once a pipe dream — the kind of career that felt like it belonged to someone else's story.
None of this would have been possible without the people who shaped this path. My mentors, @KharasLab and @DrMvandenBrink. My advisory committee — @AbdelWahablab, Ivan Maillard, Christina Leslie, @RichardKoche, @KivancBirsoy, and @RossLevineLab. @cedunbar80, @dstarczynowski, and @SteidlUli, for their unwavering guidance and support over the years. And above all, to my family, who has stood beside me through every step.
I'm excited for this next chapter and look forward to building an independent research program.
To anyone who feels like they don't belong in this room yet: keep going !
