inspired by @wesbos, i created a dashboard for Jr's school schedule something which was a pita to check and keep updated everyday. am running it on a old fire tab in kiosk mode, built a nifty android app for the TV.

Been using claude for design and i must say impressive. though it's very easy to identify designs done in claude... it has a very typical way of using fonts... but for now its better then lovable which has been my goto for design till date.

You really don't need the top model to build everything. i have had instances when I have a plan ready and I would want to use 3 different models for different things. for now i haven't figured out a way to do that in a single big plan using @cursor_ai

Cursor for everything else. Api, integration with frontend, testing, optimization etc. the choice of model depends on what I need to accomplish. for most of the tasks auto or composer are more then enough. for better engineering I prefer grok 4.5 and opus 4.6 2/2

My tech stack for building things, not much has changed over the last few months: Fastapi SQLite Db React js Am still building PWA's rather then native apps. @Lovable is still my goto platform for design. the ease of design+frontend code makes life so easy. 1/2

If you are building something not very complicated, look at SQLite Db rather then @PostgreSQL or @MySQL . Its simple, doesn't need installation and can be simply copied from one place to another. and yeah it can scale upto 200+k records easy peasy.

for the longest time, i always wanted to build native apps. not any more. every platform i have built in the last year has a PWA version. easy to build, easy to maintain, no pain of dealing with the play stores.

Companies building apps should hire consultant or talk to their top 50 customers to figure out what is not working... some of the issues are so basic...
