Another example of the inequity.
Two deaths, same cause, same harm, different timing, different justice.
The law may be ‘as it is’, but the law requiring a report to address this has also been in place for over 7 years.
Why does one have more standing?
@AlexDaviesJones
This is exactly the same as Harriet and Wynter. Both our beautiful girls died in shockingly similar circumstances yet Harriet didn’t get an investigation had she got an investigation and had lessons been learnt Wynter wouldn’t have had to die. Wynter got an investigation because she took a breath but lessons could have been learnt 6 years prior. The fact this is taking so long to rectify is probably also one of the reasons their is a reluctance to call a public inquiry because everyone knows all the inaction that could have saved many babies lives yet still no urgency. 4 families affected right here there will be thousands more. The prob is the NHS doesn’t need another action plan it need action and accountability. @Sajhawkins1 @andyburnham @YvetteCooperMP @AlexJJNorris @MichelleWelshMP

He went down the alley because he heard a woman screaming and he thought he could help.
The police shot Termaine Hicks three times in the back.
Then they charged him with the r@pe he had run towards.
He served nineteen years. South Philadelphia, the early hours of 27 November 2001.
Hicks heard a woman being attacked in an alley and went in. Officers arrived moments later.
They shot him three times. All three rounds entered his back. One lodged near his spine.
The account the officers gave was that he had drawn a gun from his jacket pocket, pointed it and lunged at them. They produced a weapon they said they recovered from that pocket.
Here is what the evidence actually showed, decades later.
The gun was registered to another Philadelphia police officer as his personal off-duty weapon.
The gun was covered in the victim's blood. There was no blood at all inside Hicks's jacket pocket, where the officers said it had been.
The officers described him wearing a grey hooded top matching the attacker's description. His clothing was preserved. It was a coat, a striped polo shirt and a white t-shirt. There was no hooded top, and none was found at the scene.
Detectives had viewed surveillance footage on the day showing the actual attacker in a hooded sweatshirt. That footage was not disclosed until after his trial.
He was convicted of rape, aggravated assault and related offences and sentenced to twelve and a half to twenty-five years.
He was denied parole in 2015 because he would not admit to it.
On 16 December 2020 the Philadelphia District Attorney's office conceded that the officers had lied under oath and moved to vacate the conviction. He walked out after nineteen years.
Pennsylvania is one of the states that does not compensate the wrongly convicted.
He ran towards a woman screaming. They shot him in the back for it and then convicted him of her r@pe.
He spent 19 years in prison before prosecutors acknowledged that officers had lied under oath and his conviction was overturned.
This is why we have taken time to uncover and document the injustices too often buried, denied, and forgotten savvypurchase.samcart.com/pr…

BBC PAID HIM 6X MORE.
THE TRIBUNAL SAID THAT WAS ILLEGAL.
Samira Ahmed @SamiraAhmedUK presented Newswatch on @BBC for years. Same format. Same length. Same job. Read viewer feedback on camera, wrap it up, go home.
Jeremy Vine @theJeremyVine did exactly the same thing on Points of View.
She got £440 per episode. He got £3,000.
Ahmed spent years trying to fix it quietly through internal BBC processes. The BBC said there was no problem.
She filed for tribunal. In January 2020, the tribunal ruled unanimously in her favour. The BBC could not explain the difference. They tried. They argued Vine needed "a glint in the eye" and to be "cheeky."
The tribunal said that was not a skill. It was a story the BBC told itself.
The total underpayment was close to £700,000. Sarah Montague, another BBC woman, settled separately for around £400,000.
The National Union of Journalists flagged around 70 more cases waiting resolution internally. After Ahmed won, 700 BBC women received pay rises.
The BBC's statement after losing? They regretted it had gone to tribunal.
Not that they paid a woman six times less than a man for the same work for years. Just that it became public.

IMPORTANT!
The link below takes you to a Press Statement by the APPG on Investment Fraud and Fairer Financial Services entitled:
“WHISTLEBLOWERS AROUND THE WORLD UNITE IN THEIR CONDEMNATION OF THE UK’S FINANCIAL CONDUCT AUTHORITY”
As you’ll see, it has an accompanying anthology.
As far as we know this is the first time whistleblowers around the world have spoken out together on behalf of a fellow whistleblower who has fallen.
They are speaking out against @TheFCA's decision to not move forward with a proper independent 3rd party investigation into their handling of the whistleblowing of Simon Andriesz R.I.P., and a wider systemic review of how they have dealt with other whistleblowers.
Instead, @TheFCA just wants to do a narrow, ‘mark their own homework’ exercise, which has caused outrage in some quarters.
You can access the press statement and accompanying anthology through this link:

🌪️ Last Night, Sebastian asks who is protecting people experiencing homelessness as preparations are made for the storm.
He reports that 10 people are sleeping outside our shelter, despite repeated calls to Glasgow City Councils out-of-hours emergency service throughout the night. Our team tried to secure accommodation before conditions worsened, but nobody was accommodated through those calls.
📞 As Sebastian highlights The Scottish Government’s emergency meetings about the weather, he questions how those left without shelter are being included in the response.
People sleeping outside need somewhere safe to go. We urgently ask Glasgow City Council and the Scottish Government to ensure that storm preparations include practical help for those exposed on our streets.
⛺ A sleeping pod should never be someone’s only protection during a storm.
What arrangements should be in place for people with nowhere indoors to go during severe weather? Please share your views below.
