If you’re a pro ethnicity nationalist for Afghanistan. Dont follow me. I will offend you because I don’t care about your ethnicity, I care about your ethics, morals, and actions you have taken to make Afghanistan a more livable country for all of its citizens. I’ve seen a wave of trolls who have started following me and I’m very happy to block all of you if you say anything stupid. So I know it will be soon.

To clear up a number that has been misreported by @PakTVGlobal: the figure in our report is $721.9 million, the part of the $8.00 billion in donor-confirmed humanitarian payments that can be traced past the first recipient, and these are funds paid through UN agencies and international partners, so Kabul Institute is calling for transparency that helps aid reach Afghans in need and never for cuts.
A correction on the “Who gets the aid money in Afghanistan.” These are humanitarian funds that donors paid through UN agencies and other international partners, not payments to the Taliban authorities. $721.9M of the total $8.00B in donor-confirmed payments can be traced past the first recipient. Kabul Institute does not call for cutting aid. We call for transparency so aid reaches Afghans in need. See the findings in the first comment:

The recording of our press conference is now up. $8.00B paid, $721.9M traceable to the first recipient. Afghans in need can be better helped when aid can be followed so we are asking for transparency, not less aid. Thank you, @OmSamad, .@LMurtaza07, .@shoaib_alami, .@kawusi. youtu.be/90VRCYeh3Rg

A correction on the Afghanistan Aid Tracker. Our research found $1.42B in recorded payments where donors list the recipient only as Confidential. That is a gap in how aid is reported. It does not show who received the money, and nothing in our findings says it went to the Taliban. Posts and graphics circulating online use our name to subvert the findings of our report to push their own propaganda, and all these accounts have one thing in common: can anyone venture a guess? These are not findings of @kabulinstitute. They turn a transparency gap into an accusation our data does not support, and they put the people who help us verify aid on the ground at risk. The people who lose when the aid trail goes dark are Afghans. The Tracker exists so they can follow the money. The real and verified data is available on @kabulinstitute.

Let me be blunt: Cutting aid to the Afghan people is the wrong response. Not seeing where it goes is the problem. Nearly 22 million Afghans still need humanitarian help, yet confirmed payments have fallen about 80 percent from $2.96 billion in 2022 to $597.9 million this year, and our report does not ask donors to give less but to show more, because when the money is this scarce, the public deserves to see that it reaches the people it was raised for. kabulinstitute.org/who-gets-…

The Kabul Institute says the transfer route for 91 per cent of humanitarian aid to Taliban-controlled Afghanistan is unclear, with only about 9 per cent of $8 billion in assistance traceable. afintl.com/en/202610227011

Tomorrow, we launch the Afghanistan Aid Tracker, and you are invited. Who gets the aid money in Afghanistan? Nobody has been able to answer that in public, so we built a way to. Join Omar Samad, Layma Murtaza, Mohib Iqbal, and Shoaib Alami for the launch of the Afghanistan Aid Tracker. Thursday, Oct 22, 9:15 a.m. ET, on Zoom. No one in the aid space agrees with this. Nobody. Foreign countries in crisis with close ties to the US all openly decry the dissolution of USAID & DOGE cuts. The #Trump admin's foreign policy circles are full of people who [privately] say the same.
SECRETARY RUBIO: The one that is unequivocally better right now, by far, it's night and day, is humanitarian response. It is faster, more effective, and gets to the target way faster than ever before.

Donors recorded $1.42 billion across 316 flows to a recipient listed only as “Confidential.” Some confidentiality protects people, but none of it currently meets any disclosure standard. 1/5🧵 Italy has long offered Afghan asylum seekers some of the highest recognition rates in the EU. So why do so many still move on after getting protection? AAN looks at why Italy remains a gateway to Europe rather than a place many Afghans settle.👇 bit.ly/4hTRwIY

Afghan families, and the donors who gave on their behalf, cannot see where aid money goes once it is paid. Every dollar of humanitarian aid to Afghanistan was raised on one promise, that it would reach an Afghan family, and the public record stops long before anyone can confirm that it did. On October 22, Kabul Institute opens the Afghanistan Aid Tracker, an Afghan-led public record of aid going to Afghanistan and how it is spent. Nothing is modelled or estimated, so every number can be checked against its source. Starting tomorrow, one fact a day on what the tracker shows and what it means for Afghans. @attal_shams @shoaib_alami @kawusi

Honestly I remember a time Twitter was exciting and had some, what’s the word…decorum? It used to be more than AI slop, bots, and people fighting each other just to justify their opinion even if they’re wrong. But here we are in hell.

“I think the biggest disease the world suffers from in this day and age is the disease of people feeling unloved. I know that I can give love for a minute, for half an hour, for a day, for a month, but I can give. I am very happy to do that, I want to do that.” - Princess Diana of Wales

A handful of Taliban officials now work in Berlin and Bonn to facilitate deportations from Germany to Afghanistan. France is considering doing the same in Paris, and other European countries are showing interest. This cooperation follows months of quiet engagement and a controversial meeting in Brussels in June, where over 20 EU delegates failed to question the Taliban even once on human rights. German officials describe the engagement as effective recognition of the Taliban as the legitimate government. Our story w/ @jimtankersley @jeannasmialek @CFSchuetze @lynseychutel

Sure, I love this strategic partner: 1) 300,000 Afghan children were disabled under strategic land mines targeting children shaped like toys 2) 3 million Afghans killed during Soviet - Afghan war. A lack of education, and critical thinking is hurting the people of Afghanistan.
