What an honour to meet this powerful, compassionate warrior @FranceskAlbs @OHCHR_Palestine @UN to talk about how Indigenous human rights activists can help pressure the world to end the genocide in Palestine. We are watching the destruction of a people in graphic colour on social media. All peoples deserve to be protected from genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity, apartheid, and torture. Canada needs to step up. #Palestine #FreePalestine #indigenous #indigenoussolidarity #humanrights #EndGenocide #cdnpoli

The fact that CIJA is categorically against protecting Palestinians from racism and hate is very telling. This is not a human rights organization, or even an organization combatting antisemitism, it is anti-Palestinian, first and foremost.
➡️ We are alarmed by a recent post from Canada’s Special Representative on Combatting Islamophobia suggesting the Government of Canada is considering a definition of anti-Palestinian racism. Current definitions classify basic expressions of Jewish identity and support for Israel—such as wearing an Israeli pin, opposing BDS, or disagreeing with the Nakba narrative—as racist. This concept has no basis in human rights law and risks undermining existing Canadian policy and the IHRA definition of antisemitism. We have already engaged with the Government of Canada on an urgent basis on this issue and will keep our community updated as we continue those interventions.

The Government of Canada has committed to adopting a definition for Anti-Palestinian Racism (APR).
After community roundtables led by MP Salma Zahid (@SalmaZahid15) and Special Representative on Combatting Islamophobia Amira Elghawaby (@AmiraElghawaby) it was clear that APR was intersecting with Islamophobia to hurt communities across Canada.
An accurate definition of APR is vital in the battle to protect our Palestinian communities. It is also vital in the protection of our right to stand up for Palestinian civil liberties and human rights.
