NO INFORMATION SHARING WITH AUTHORITARIANS.
@MPIainDS has tabled an amendment to the Cyber Security and Resilience Bill to stop 🇨🇳 and other authoritarian regimes from abusing information sharing agreements.
The amendment would prevent 🇬🇧 from sharing private information with overseas authorities in jurisdictions where the right to a fair trial cannot be guaranteed, including China and #HongKong.
We need your support! Urge your MP to support the amendment with our template letter: hongkongwatch.org/all-posts/…

(5/5) @MarkJSewards highlighted @theCFHK’s @Chloe_chc_25 and a chilling truth: as #FreeJimmyLai is sentenced, #HongKongers in the UK face ongoing harassment by the #CCP

(4/5) Labour’s @alexsobel is right. @Keir_Starmer rolled out the red carpet for the #CCP—a #megaembassy and a visit. China’s response? A death sentence for a British citizen.

This decision - which I have fought hard to stop - will be felt most acutely by Hongkongers who have made their home here over the past five years under the BN(O) visa scheme in good faith, trusting the UK government to stand by its commitments to their safety and freedoms. (1/6)

🇭🇰 This morning, I and 33 of my Labour colleagues wrote to the Minister for Migration and Citizenship, following my recent parliamentary debate on the potential impact of immigration reforms on humanitarian visa routes. (1/5)

Today’s verdict will be extremely distressing for the Hongkonger community here in the UK. The trial of Mr. Lai speaks of the ongoing critical necessity of a humanitarian route for Hongkongers to repatriate to the UK. I've signed this joint statement reflecting on the verdict 👇

🇭🇰 BREAKING: Hongkongers on BN(O) visas will continue to have a five-year pathway to indefinite leave to remain. Six months of campaigning has resulted in the result we were hoping for from the government, with clarity for Hongkongers. (1/6)

📢 Say NO to China’s “Mega-embassy” at Royal Mint Court in London!
This "mega-embassy" could become a base for transnational surveillance and repression of dissidents, just like the Manchester Consulate attack on a Hong Kong protester and China’s secret “overseas police stations” used to monitor exiled Hongkongers, Uyghurs, and Tibetans.
📅 Date: Sat, 8 Feb 2025
🕑 Time: 2–4 PM
📍 Location: Royal Mint Court, London EC3N 4AB
👉 Join us to defend freedom and stand against China’s transnational repression! The more people, the stronger the message. See you there!
