The Obama-appointed chief judge of D.C. District Court is now overseeing the fight to unseal Rep. Ilhan Omar's search warrant, on top of California's voter-roll lawsuit, the deportation flights dispute that reached the Supreme Court, and the Signal messages case involving top Trump officials. Reps. Jim Jordan, Darrell Issa, and Chip Roy sent a letter to the court clerk demanding answers about how cases are assigned, writing that they "cannot independently verify the randomness of case assignments because the composition of assignment decks is kept secret."
Sen. Eric Schmitt has introduced legislation — literally named the Boasberg Act — that would require federal courts to assign cases randomly without exceptions. It's stalled in committee.

The captain of the University of New Haven hockey team.
A criminal justice major who wanted to be a cop.
He was killed Oct. 16 in a wrong-way crash on I-91 in North Haven, Connecticut.
DHS says the driver who hit him had been removed from the U.S. TWICE before and came back illegally.
He has not been charged, and the investigation is ongoing.
DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin blamed Connecticut's sanctuary policy.
Gov. Ned Lamont hasn't publicly addressed it.
