We are either Traditionalists or Futurists. No one truly believes the system works, no one considers the current an ideal. For better or worse, the world we live in now shall not last long. Using either vision as a pejorative only betrays an unwillingness for change.

Today in 1914 the German colony of Kiaochow Bay & its centre at Tsingtao were captured by Japanese forces. This left Germany without a far east base. Below 👇🏻 is a very long thread on WW1 in Asia-Pacific 🇩🇪🐲🇯🇵

Trumps tariffs in 2025 caused no private sector job growth between 2019 and 2024.
Replying to @BagelPolling
No offence fella but we’re suffering under punishing malicious tariffs by a country to our south that is threatening military action against us.

On January 14, 1940 the FBI announced the arrest 18 men alleged to be members of the Christian Front.
They were charged with plotting to overthrow the U.S. government. At trial, the men argued that they were actually patriots, opposing the threat of Communism in America.🧵1/24

Exit polls show that Hispanic voters who had immigration as their top issue were far more friendly to the GOP than Hispanics who did not.
The anti-ICE backlash simply is not a factor in any demographic.

There’s nowhere to run. And the people best positioned to turn things around with money and influence are the biggest runners. They have a hunger to build, but not take. The takers are never satiated. And the builders are scared of the takers. There’s a disconnect in the wiring of the builders and the way society is set up in the modern world such that they can’t bring themselves to stand their ground and defend. But the takers, once they have taken, don’t stop. They never have to play defense because they never stop playing offense.
This is what conservatism is, liberals that play defense for eternity. The right must play offense. It must want more. It must be progressive. This idea has been beaten to death amongst the intellectual right, but intellectuals aren’t doers. The doers have to get the message. Unfortunately the doers are stupid. A wonderful coalition of ineffectuals and retards.
You shouldn’t take this as dooming. The right has all the real strength but not the will. The right is a giant elephant tied to a flimsy rope and post.

To undermine socialists, Bismarck, ironically, preemptively implemented some social welfare reforms. That playbook could be something to think about for Republicans. Especially those running in places like Virginia and other blue leaning states.
