This aid will push US government payments to farmers in 2026 to $55.4 billion, based on USDA's earlier net farm income forecast with $8 billion added to it. The highest previous aid year was $45.6 billion in 2020, driven by trade aid and pandemic payments.

Not going to say all AI data sources are bad, but... Just saw a lg green lentil price at 80 cents/lb FOB Ottawa (??). And then that price got picked up and reported elsewhere, because that's the way the interweb works. Call me old school, but I still prefer NI over AI

Wow. Looks like the US diesel crisis has just been solved. Russia will “immediately” supply 300K tons — roughly 0.6 days of US consumption — plus another 500K tons in November, or about one day. A “highly successful discussion,” indeed. Now the more interesting question: what did the Kremlin get in return? #oatt #artofthedeal #winning

Best August ever. Demand rationing likely later in 26/27.

Compared a couple of other slow harvest years with 26/27. Yeesh! Interesting that 2016/17 was pretty close to average until late Sep and then literally went sideways. Really need some warm dry days without heavy dew.

So this week's CSCA conference in Halifax included an announcement about talks between Cda and China for a phyto agreement in lentil, chickpea and faba trade. That's great, but can we include oats in those talks too @CornwallHeath ? Would be a big help.

@LeftFieldCR's projections point to smaller 2026 crops for all three major pulses, but large old-crop carryovers will cushion some of the declines in total supplies. Read the full report: ow.ly/NKvs50ZKYx9

PSA re StatsCan's Jul 31 canola stocks number of 1.9 mln t: Commercial stocks = 1.06 mln. Farmers del'd 1.12 mln 1st 4 wks of Aug (before harvest). That's 2.18 mln, assuming farmers' bins are empty (they're not). More like 2.6 mln (or more). Still tight, but realistic.

Not many days of above-average monsoon rains in August or early September. Deficit is growing, and prospects of recovery are fading as Sept rain amounts decline. Shortfalls are worse in the southern half of India.
