The 170 year old Argyle Street Ash Tree in Glasgow had pretty much a full crown of foliage yesterday, but now stands naked and leafless after last night's wind. Other than that it seems unharmed, which is always a relief after any storm.

I was meant to have a stall at the Park Lane Market tomorrow, but as its outdoors, it's unsurprisingly been cancelled due to the weather. I'll be doing some more markets soon, and will post the dates closer to the time.

The French are decades ahead of Americans when it comes to politics:
“It started with the student revolt, but it concerns the entire society. We are fighting against the government, against war, and against capitalism. The entire society needs to change.”

Love this ghost sign on 307 West George Street in Glasgow, which identifies it as the former office of the wonderfully named Glasgow architect Ninian MacWhannell.

The full force of #StormBoelo hits Largs. Businessowner Toni Dawson of Geraldo's said: "We are trying to protect our businesses from this disaster but we can't even get into our shops right now - god knows how much stock we have lost."

Your smart TV is watching you back.
Not with a camera. With a feature most smart TVs ship with, and that most owners agree to during setup without reading a word.
It's called automatic content recognition, or ACR. Your TV takes frequent snapshots of whatever is on the screen and matches them against a database. That covers streaming apps, cable, your game console, even whatever is plugged into HDMI. The data can then be used for ads and recommendations.
Texas sued 5 major TV makers over it. Samsung settled. More lawsuits were filed this year.
A privacy researcher told me: "It takes about 2 minutes to turn off. Most people have no idea which menu to look in."
Here's how to turn it off on every major brand, plus 6 more settings to change tonight.🧵👇
