I’m never gonna be that pompous, condescending, know-it-all who’s gonna lecture you on who to vote for today. I don’t even like voting for people. I vote for policy. I vote for principles. Politicians are rental cars: use em to get where you wanna go, then broom em and never think about em again. Don’t get attached to the person. They are flawed, fallen human beings like anyone else, and they will most certainly let you down, eventually. I’m not a fan of Machiavellian strategizing with elections…I think that kind of scheming is hubristic, and it can often backfire. I prefer to just vote my conscience, and trust that God will guide the right outcome. That doesn’t mean immediate “victory” in any given race…God’s timeline is much deeper and it exceeds our limited vision. Sometimes things need to get worse before they can get better. Sometimes things are better than you even realize. I respect my supporters far too much to instruct any of you how I think you should vote…I won’t even demand that you DO vote. All I will ask is that you reflect on the fact that you can vote. We forget, so easily, just how blessed we are to be Americans. It’s not luck. We don’t have magical soil. We have a legacy of brave and brilliant and principled men who fought and died to forge our destiny here, setting us apart from every other human civilization. Every day I think about how I can honor their sacrifices that I’m not worthy of. I felt a call to run for office. I feel an undying duty to advocate for my community…I don’t know if I’m earning my American birthright, but it is always on my mind. I feel the weight of America’s grace just as heavily as I feel the glory of God’s grace. Heidi and I are so, so blessed. If I can be forgiven just one moralizing lecture point today: have gratitude. Gratitude is the ultimate virtue that precedes all other virtues, and it is the skeleton key that unlocks joy in even the darkest times in your life. Many people will be devastated and disappointed by the outcomes today…the rest will cheer today, but will be disappointed 6 months from now when your victory celebrations wane and your lauded candidate inevitably lets you down. Gratitude. Thank God you can vote today without getting beheaded. You can vote however you want today…and while some of my fellow former Mayoral candidates may not realize this…you don’t even have to tell anyone who you voted for. You can just…do you. I will continue to remind you all…Jesus has the wheel. You will adapt and overcome whatever happens today. Or in the case of Gavin Newsom’s CA, 48 days after the polls close.

There are people who put a lot of effort into their home for Halloween and there is this guy.
Halloween Costume of the Night This dog wins Halloween costume of the night. Nothing can beat this. He doesn't look too happy about it, but I hope he gets a nice bone and plenty of treats when it's all over. What's the best pet costume you've seen tonight?

Absolutely incredible… "Wedgewood Polls" just admitted they are a fake polling firm and made up their polls. Their fake polls have been posted in both the NYT and Nate Silver’s averages.

How can you NOT believe in God when octopuses dream and otters have a favorite rock they carry around in a little skin pocket and cows have best friends and bees are out there communicating the coordinates of flowers through dancing and they have regional dialects? Cats are purring at frequencies associated with bone healing? Forests get absolutely incinerated and respond by growing flowers? Dolphins literally invent names for themselves and yell them across the ocean? Penguins are waddling around Antarctica looking for the perfect rock to give their partner? CROWS REMEMBER YOUR FACE. THEY TELL OTHER CROWS ABOUT YOU. THEY TELL THEIR CHILDREN ABOUT YOU. YOU CAN HAVE GENERATIONAL BEEF WITH A BIRD. I NEED YOU TO UNDERSTAND THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THIS. Goats have accents. Rats laugh when you tickle them. Elephants mourn their dead. Whales make songs and then OTHER WHALES LEARN THE SONG and suddenly everybody across the ocean is singing the new song. Monarch butterflies are born knowing how to fly thousands of miles to a place they have never been. Sea turtles hatch out of an egg, immediately sprint toward an ocean that they have never seen, disappear into it for like 3 decades and then somehow come back to the same beach they hatched on. Birds can see colors that we humans can’t see. There are colors out there right now that we don’t even get to know about. There are sea slugs that eat algae and use the chloroplast/chlorophyll and then are just like…photosynthesizing. And they’re super adorable. There are mushrooms communicating underground. There are seeds sitting in the dirt for decades like “no actually I will wait. It’s fine.” Squirrels plant trees because they forget where they put their snacks. Relatable. A CATERPILLAR GOES INTO A LITTLE BAG THAT IT CREATES ITSELF AND DISSOLVES MOST OF ITS BODY INTO ORGANIC GOO AND REARRANGES ITSELF, GROWS WINGS AND THEN LEAVES. WHY IS THIS NOT MORE BEAUTIFULLY TERRIFYING TO PEOPLE?? And you’re telling me a tiny acorn knows how to become a huge tree? It just has a blueprint inside itself? Your body started as ONE CELL. ONE. And that cell divided itself into a brain that can think about its own existence and eyes that can look at stars and hands that can hold somebody else’s hands and a heart that runs on electricity without you even asking it to? The iron in our blood was made inside a star?? We are walking around on a wet rock covered in bioluminescent oceans and singing whales and laughing rats and birds holding lifelong grudges and flowers exploding out of fire and somehow we’re supposed to act like this is a normal place to live? We’re supposed to act like this is all just a random, accidental sequence of events?

President Dallin H. Oaks delivered a landmark address on religious freedom Wednesday at Washington National Cathedral, pointing to the United States Constitution as a key tool for peacemaking and finding common ground. “The Constitution compels a divided people to build coalitions to allow them to act together,” said President @OaksDallinH, who has spent seven decades studying the Constitution as a scholar, jurist and religious leader. “‘Compels’ is a strong word, but it is exactly what the Constitution does. It puts what we now call ‘peacemaking’ at the heart of the Constitution’s process for achieving freedom and unity, and fairness for all.” His remarks are the first by a Church President at Washington National Cathedral, a “house of prayer for all people,” and came on the eve of the country’s Constitution Day. The event, titled “Faith, Freedom and the Common Good,” explored the relationship between religious faith and American democracy. The gathering was part of the cathedral’s “A Better Way” series, which encourages Americans to find common ground and move forward together in polarized times. President Oaks said he was participating in the effort to help “embody the love of God in public life,” offering “hope for unity and a moral framework to move forward in a divided world.” Learn more on Church Newsroom. newsroom.churchofjesuschrist…

Oh man… not sure how to write this. Here it goes. January of last year, I did something I hadn’t done… ever. I gave Trump credit for doing something good. I gave him credit for keeping his promises to us in Western North Carolina. I could never have imagined the volume of hate and anger I received from doing something that was so obviously the right thing to do. Just giving credit where credit was due. Saying thank you. Since that moment, I’ve learned a lot. I’ve learned that some of my liberal friends were never friends. They torched our friendship almost immediately… just for thanking Trump. I learned that many liberals seem to preach tolerance, but aren’t tolerant of conservative ideas AT ALL, it’s just an act to pretend to be moral. I learned that the greatest organizations in the world are churches… something that was genuinely UNTHINKABLE even 2 years ago. I learned that the media just… lies. They lie constantly and without fear of ever being caught. I learned this lying comes from a bizarre sense of righteous morality that the lie, in the end, will achieve some good. I learned they cannot be trusted. I learned that I offloaded my own critical thinking to these organizations, and that many of the news “stories” I believed were true… never were. I learned what it means to be swatted. I learned what it’s like to have some crazed leftists send armed police to my home, with my kids in their beds, at 2AM claiming I had been sh0t and to break down the door. I learned that the only thing in the world that can change a persons mind is kindness is action… because that’s what changed mine. I learned that kindness is telling the truth, not lying to protect someone’s feelings. I learned that telling the truth is the most dangerous thing you can do, and that’s why free speech matters so much. I learned that free speech is never truly free… they will come after your entire life and try to destroy everything in it. …but it’s worth it It’s all been worth it.

Lindsey Graham's parents died within 15 months of each other when his sister Darline was 13. He became her guardian and raised her. He was a military lawyer, a Judge Advocate General (JAG), after getting his psychology degree. He once served as head prosecutor in Europe in USAF. He retired as a colonel and earned a Bronze Star. He also served in the Guard and Reserve. He was a constitutional law scholar, and when asked a question about legislation, would frequently speak at length about the constitution. He had a wicked sense of humor. He loved his state, the military, and his country. He loved his sister most of all.

BREAKING: The Supreme Court just handed states a major victory in one of the country's most closely watched culture battles: protecting girls' and women's sports. In a 6-3 ruling along ideological lines, the court upheld laws in Idaho and West Virginia banning transgender students from competing in women's and girls' school sports. Justice Brett Kavanaugh writing in his opinion, "The term 'sex' in Title IX... cannot plausibly be interpreted to refer to anything other than biological sex... The Court concludes that separate sports teams for biological males and biological females are reasonable given the inherent physical differences between the sexes."

An absolutely incredible speech, and so inspiring and thought-provoking. We need more of this in society.
One of the most thought provoking speeches I've seen in a while. @Miss_Snuffy on how raising a generation to see the world through oppressors and the oppressed is changing the West. If you don't have time, bookmark it. It's worth every second. WATCH:
