Stepping up repeatedly to respond to outbreaks of some of the world’s deadliest emerging viruses doesn’t count for much these days if it becomes politically expedient to target you. To my colleagues & all my fellow Americans—today it’s Vincent & Kwe. Tomorrow maybe it’s your turn. This is fascist shit. If it stands it is the end of our democracy

Good on ya. In my experience, it’s not the word to which people object, it’s the state. Better than renaming, understand frailty and tackle it. Often in hospitals, no matter the word, many are comfortable in denigrating the people who live with it. That’s what needs to change.
I am going to try to read this with an open mind.. the word "frailty " just makes me uncomfortable.

Politicians will trust the science - until the evidence doesn't suit the public and becomes politically inconvenient. The attacks on supervised consumption sites and suffer supply are striking examples, by @garymasonglobe theglobeandmail.com/opinion/… via @GlobeDebate #ToxicDrugCrisis

Children are disproportionately impacted in the large mpox outbreak occurring in the Democratic Republic of Congo. While mpox vaccines are effective in reducing the risk of infection & mitigating disease severity, they are not widely available in the DRC. Ensuring the safe vaccination of children against mpox would be immensely helpful. Link: tinyurl.com/3nv2vzfx

I’ve learned things this week thanks to my Dad… We have no concern for our dignity during birth, illness, then the end of life. So… Enjoy yourself. Don’t fret over how you look. Be silly. Be kind. Be respectful. Live when you can. Dignity is for job interviews.

Last night @PinkLarkin hosted a Christmas dinner for many of my clients who live in Victoria Park and Grand Parade. Sit down meal with table service. The food and service was excellent. Lots of engagement. Thanks for your generosity during this tough, cold Christmas season.

I was visiting the tent encampment in Lower Sackville when the winds picked up. Tents were blowing away, collapsing, and tearing apart. This is what an emergency looks like. These people have nowhere else to go. They need safe, secure housing out of the elements. #nspoli

With COVID-19 cases increasing in the community, some people, including people at higher risk of severe illness, may choose to wear a mask to protect themselves, such as when in indoor settings or on public transport. Be kind and considerate of someone’s choice to wear a mask.

Measles is spreading globally. Vaccination is important, but clinicians need to keep an index of suspicion in patients who return from travel, particularly without a full vaccine series. This includes places like Europe. cbc.ca/news/canada/ottawa/2-…
