Obama: "Canada, that historical adversary of ours. It's your neighbour. It's a few minutes drive over the bridge. They are the nicest people. And somehow we've gotten them so mad because they're just constantly being abused and talked about. Talking about annexing their country, making it a 51st state."

Bill Clinton on Mark Carney:
I'm tired of treating our allies like they're dirt.
The prime minister of Canada has been a friend of mine for a long time. We got to know each other having virtually nothing to do with politics.
He's about the most well-qualified leader in the world. He's been head of the banks of both the UK and Canada.
And we have the gall to suggest that they should become the 51st state.

This great speech, by a 92-year-old Canadian patriot and former prime minister, should touch the heart of every American.
Trump’s assault on Canada is stupid and self-defeating.
We should not make enemies of the people we have known as friends and allies for generations.

“I have a message for American friends. Yes, Canada is a generous, open country and Canadians are tolerant and kind. But never mistake our generosity for weakness. Never mistake our tolerance for lack of determination. And never, never mistake our kindness for softness."
