Travel advice: if someone tries to give you a flower or bracelet or any other “free” gift, don’t take it, don’t talk to them, just walk away.

Man, some things from the 1980s are just so cringe 😬 (volume on)
Only the 1980s could a riding lawnmower safety video turn into a full-blown musical production. I don't know who picked this soundtrack, but somebody deserves a raise. You have to see this.

After reading Red Baron Guy’s reply to the GoFundMe campaign, I’m even more happy with this story. This guy really is a stand-up man. 🫡 teapaw.org/surajit_ghosh2/status/…

Pause from the election drama and enjoy some JS Bach on a flattop.
The best thing you will hear today! 🔥 Bach’s Cello Suite No. 1 Prelude… played on a flat-top acoustic guitar with hybrid picking. This is pure magic. So delicate, so precise, and so full of emotion. The fact that it was written for cello and sounds this good on steel strings is wild.

The only thing that would sway my vote this election is six text messages from an unidentified number during my work day.

Clifford's Tower, York, England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 This tower has a rich and complex history dating back to the 11th century. Originally built by William the Conqueror in 1068 as part of York Castle, it served as a symbol of Norman power. Over the centuries, the tower witnessed numerous events, including political upheavals, royal visits, and tragic incidents. In 1190, during anti-Semitic riots, the tower became a refuge for Jewish residents seeking protection from a mob. The tower underwent several modifications over time, evolving from a wooden structure to a stone keep. In the 17th century, during the English Civil War, it played a role in the conflict between Royalists and Parliamentarians. The tower's significance declined in the 18th century, and it became a prominent site for visitors interested in its historical associations. Today, Clifford's Tower stands as a striking symbol of York's past, offering panoramic views of the city and serving as a testament to the enduring legacy of Norman architecture. Its varied history encapsulates centuries of political, cultural, and social changes, making it a captivating destination for those eager to explore the historical tapestry of England. (My pic)

Maybe the greatest Caravaggio painting…
For 400 years, no one can agree who Jesus is pointing at here. This is The Calling of Saint Matthew, my absolute favorite painting from Caravaggio. Painted in 1600 and still in the exact same chapel in Rome. That hand Caravaggio copied directly from Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel. Who do you think he is pointing at? Sound on 🔊

Great advice for train travel in Italy 🇮🇹 (My pic)
Two tips for riding trains in Italy: 1. Watch the stops and don’t dillydally exiting the train when it arrives at your destination. Stops are brief — especially on regional trains. My friend found this out the hard way. Even though I told her we needed to exit quickly, she turned back to look at something right after I stepped off. The doors locked, the train started moving, and she ended up having to ride to the next stop and then back — almost an hour each way. Luckily, I have a good train app on my phone and was able to buy her a return ticket and text it to her. Which leads to my other tip . . . 2. Have a good train app loaded and set up on your phone so that if this happens, or if you your route is suddenly cancelled, you can quickly get another ticket. I’ve used several apps over the years, but Trainline is my current favorite. Happy travels!

“The birth certificate of Venice”? Inscribed in marble in Torcello’s Santa Maria Assunta is a statement about the founding of the church in 639 A.D. It is considered the oldest documented historical record of Venetian civilization.

Hey @grok explain this latest development and put a % on the likelihood the resurrection is real.
An impossible forgery. An impossible reality. Elaborate hoax or proof of the resurrection of Jesus? We might finally know. Let's examine the Shroud of Turin 1/🧵
