We're on the road campaigning today in New Jersey. First stop: Gloucester County in South Jersey where we gave a boost to Zack Mullock, @ZMullock, Mayor of Cape May, who's running an exciting campaign to flip NJ-2. (His excellent campaign manager is my former student Chris Carroll!) We rallied with teachers, union leaders, retirees and my awesome colleague @DonNorcross4NJ. As in other rural districts, the people of NJ-2 are going to stun the MAGA establishment and take this seat back for the Democrats. @RebeccaForNJ07 and @PeteButtigieg, see you soon in NJ-7 where we understand a huge crowd is forming!

I visited Hidden Sands Brewing Company in Egg Harbor Township to tour the brewery and hear from the owner, Matt, about what it takes to run a small business in New Jersey. With Trump's rising costs and tariffs, small business owners face real obstacles. My Administration is working to lower costs and cut unnecessary red tape so they can spend less time navigating government and more time focused on serving their customers and growing their business.

Anon advice for first time CMs that you can post without attribution by name but can say managed multiple statewide races and deputy managed other statewide: - Happy staffs work the hardest. Interview every person your directors hire regardless of whether they report to you or not. It is important to build a team with diversity of experiences who all fit together into a strong team that has each others’ backs. - transparency. Explaining things to first time campaigners or folks who are too shy to ask “what’s that mean” in all staff meetings helps keep ppl invested in the work. They know why they are doing what they are doing and how it fits into the larger goals. - communicate every day with your candidate. - getting advice from others doesn’t make you weak. - lastly and incredibly important: you’re NOT the top strategist. That is not your job. You’re a manager of money and people and making final decisions based on staff, candidate, and consultant feedback.

It is not the establishment’s fault that your ex lover accused you of raping her.
My name might be on the ballot right now, but that ballot line belongs to the people of Maine.

"Steve Fulop had left that city in $250 million in debt. It was almost insurmountable." We are grateful to Gov. Sherrill for recognizing the depth of the financial crisis Jersey City was left in, and working with Jersey City to secure the largest aid package in NJ history.

Here's the thing: I do kinda get the arguments Schumer should be replaced. But there's no credible argument Jeffries should be replaced. He has by all reasonable measures been an incredibly effective House Democratic leader.
The Congressional Black Caucus’ response to Senator Elissa Slotkin (D-MI) after she suggested Hakeem Jeffries should be replaced “With respect to Senator Elissa Slotkin: House Democrats don’t need a lesson on reading the political moment from someone who handed Donald Trump one of the most corrupt cabinets in American history. Voting to confirm Kristi Noem, Pam Bondi, and five other Trump Cabinet secretaries is not the posture of someone who ‘understood the moment’ after 2024.”

In "Master of the Senate," Robert Caro writes how Lyndon Johnson was one of the only senators to attend the funeral service for powerful Sen. Harry Byrd's daughter in 1952. The move ended up ingratiating Johnson to Byrd and later helped him consolidate power and influence.
