I'm at at Austin's Water Forward Task Force meeting (I represent District 7). Historically low inflows into the Highland Lakes continue. Recent rains had NO direct impact to lake levels (they continue to decline). Risk of going into drought stage 3 if conditions stay dry.

Mike Nasi with Jackson Walker LLP at @TexasWCA: "Guilty dogs bark."
Giner: The water plan assumes the firm yield will hold through 2070--how likely is that? ~90% of the water for the Lower Rio Grande Valley is from the river, which is not a reliable source. [paraphrased]
Commish Maria-Elena Giner of @usibwc: There has been a multi-decadal decline in inflows to the Rio Grande from US sources to the river and reservoirs.
Sonny Hinojosa with the Rio Grande Valley Water District Managers' Association at @TexasWCA: Mexico is not making deliveries of water despite retaining (and then using) 2.2 million acre-feet of water after a tropical system topped up reservoirs on their side of the river.
.@electcharles at @TexasWCA meeting on his proposed $5b request for Texas water: "It's a 254 county plan. No one is going to be left out."
another reason to be thankful for the rain...

36% of Texas still faces drought & La Niña’s delayed! But there's hope—relief is expected in the coming months. Central TX could see some rain, but West TX might need to keep its rain dances going! Full scoop from @MaceatMeadows via @TexasPlusWater: bit.ly/4e3ERP7
