It is a basic principle of American democracy that the government can’t selectively target individuals simply because of their political beliefs or what they say. But that’s exactly what the Trump Administration is doing to Congresswoman Ilhan Omar of Minnesota. To understand why this is so appalling, it’s important to know the facts. Congresswoman Omar came to this country with her father when she was 12 years old. Five years later, her father became a naturalized citizen. If Ilhan had been 18 at the time, she would have had to apply for citizenship separately. But because she was 17, she became a naturalized citizen automatically. Congresswoman Omar went on to graduate from college, work as a community organizer, become the first Somali-American legislator elected to public office in the U.S., and win a seat in Congress. There, she has been one of the Trump Administration’s fiercest critics, which has led the president to repeatedly single her out as someone who he believes does not belong in this country. Now the Administration is actively trying to deport Congresswoman Omar, seemingly based solely on the unsubstantiated theory that she was actually 18 when her father was naturalized, and therefore is not a citizen. Federal agents have raided her home, confiscated personal records, and seized her phone — all to try and uncover a nonexistent smoking gun from 20 years ago that will somehow make their case. Think about that. The full weight of the federal government is being brought down on a law-abiding elected official because she has dared to criticize the president. And it’s not the first time this has happened. Under President Trump, the Justice Department has repeatedly gone after those he considers his political enemies — from the Attorney General of New York, to the former head of the FBI, to members of the Federal Reserve. In those cases, the prosecutions either stalled or were dismissed for having no basis in law, and the same is likely to happen in this case. But not before Congresswoman Omar’s life has been turned upside down, her legal bills have piled up, and she’s been forced to spend time fighting unsubstantiated charges instead of serving the people of Minnesota. The fact that any president, or any administration, is willing to engage in such transparent efforts to intimidate someone should outrage all Americans, regardless of how they feel about Congresswoman Omar’s political views. Because if this becomes the new normal, there’s no reason to believe it will stop with her — or that future presidents, in either party, won’t do the same.

There's no more pretense. The shameful truth is now clear. By withholding critical Intel and Internet services, and lifting sanctions on Russia to replenish Putin's war machine, @realDonaldTrump & @elonmusk are now fully complicit. They're on Putin's side. nytimes.com/2026/10/14/world… via @NYTimes

It's extremely important that MEN read these posts. Because it's clear men do not understand how, to quote one survivor, this utterly traumatizing experience 'rearranges you at a molecular level'. The below was posted by @munroebergdorf , model and activist, on Instagram today.

Dancing? Banned? In New York?! Not anymore. Thanks to my administration, you can now cut loose, footloose and kick off your Sunday shoes. But don't just take my word for it...

Yesterday, @SenAdamSchiff took to the senate floor to lay bare the top ten schemes thorough which @POTUS and his family have made billions since he returned to office by exploiting in various ways the leverage of the White House. Worth watching the whole, mind-blowing string.
While Americans struggle to afford gas, health care, and groceries, Trump is doing everything in his power to profit off the presidency. I’m breaking down the cost of his corruption to you, with his top ten worst grifts... so far. 🧵

You decide America. You decide really fucking quickly. Is this what you want your country doing? Is this what you want America to be? And if the answer is no, then you have a civic duty to vote every damn Republican out of office in November. Every damn one of them. You have a civic duty to put what ICE is doing in front of everyone you know. You have a civic duty to protest ICE everywhere & film ICE everywhere. And you have a civic duty to be prepared to engage in civil disobedience.

All the signals are flashing red, the latest being @POTUS's summary dismissal of the remaining Federal Election Assistance Commission members. Put that together with political hack Pulte's odious appt as DNI; election deniers in the most sensitive oversight positions; Trump's exec order on mail-in voting, and potential use of the Postal Service as a weapon of subversion; his pathological prioritization of the SAVE act, which would be the most powerful voter suppression tool in generations; and his persistent, unfounded claims of election fraud, which he uses to justify extraordinary federal interventions. On the square, the @GOP would take a beating this fall, largely because of Trump's unpopularity. So he's setting up Plan B--do whatever you need to do to win. Anything. Anyone who says "Well, he wouldn't do THAT" hasn't paid attention. He's already proven he will! So the period AFTER the Midterms may be even more turbulent than the run up to them. The courts are going to be very busy this fall.

What the Artemis II astronauts did over the last 10 days was a testament to their bravery. And the fact that they traveled farther from Earth than anyone ever has, re-entered our atmosphere at more than 24,000 mph, and splashed down safely was a testament to human ingenuity. Thanks to everyone at @NASA for making this mission possible, and for taking us along for the ride.

Regardless of whether it’s all talk, when the leader of our country expresses plainly genocidal intent, everyone has to do something. For citizens of all political stripes, it means rejecting this madness. For Congress, it means taking action to rein him in. Now.
