Fans forced into the road with traffice. Fans forced through a narrow entrance which causes crushing. @Southern_Trains station staff refuse to open side gate despite clear safety risk. Police officers ask them to open it, they still refuse. #cpfc

@SouthernRailUK @CEO4TAG @metpoliceuk yet again Southern u have 4 members of staff at Selhurst & the side gate is closed causing crushing etc. The police in attendance wasting their time because ur staff don’t open the gate to allow fans to pass through easily! What will it take?

Selhurst station is getting more dangerous with each game. If someone doesn’t get clipped by a car where fans stand in the road, they risk then being crushed trying to get through the door. @SouthernRailUK @metpoliceuk and @CPFC need to do something before someone gets hurt.

@CPISAinfo Selhurst station after the game today was beyond dangerous. The worst crowd crush/squeeze yet. Multiple children crying their eyes out. Is there any progress on getting Southern to open the double gates? Such an easy fix, but they won’t do it! #CPFC

APOLLO: AI HAS DELIVERED “ZERO PAYOFF” OUTSIDE BIG TECH Apollo Chief Economist Torsten Slok warns that massive AI spending has yet to deliver measurable productivity gains across corporate America. Revenue per worker and profit margins are rising for the Magnificent Seven but remain flat for the S&P 493. Meanwhile, Gartner estimates $3.5 trillion in AI infrastructure spending could face impairment risk by 2030. The key takeaway: AI investment is booming, but returns outside Big Tech remain elusive.

Oh, NOW Wall Street is worried about the AI boom collapsing….well, this is a bit awkward. TS Lombard is wargaming a 30% US equity decline, $20 trillion in lost market value and a wave of tech defaults. Time to really watch the workforce. As companies delay or abandon data-center projects, watch their contractors, engineering firms, equipment suppliers and construction partners. The first cuts may not come from the AI giants. They may come from the companies hired to build their ambitions - and yes, I’m already seeing a change of hiring. If infrastructure hiring keeps deteriorating across suppliers while hyperscalers keep announcing record spending, the workforce will expose a gap between capital commitments and actual execution. Wall Street can watch the spending announcements. I’ll watch who stops hiring.
Five days ago the credit market was pricing CoreWeave and Oracle. Now it's pricing Meta and Nvidia. Meta's 5-year CDS: 108 bps, a record. Nvidia: 101, a record. Alphabet and Amazon at all-time highs. Even Microsoft is climbing. AI-linked CDS trading went from under $2B a week in July to $9B+ in September. AI debt raised this year is $466B, against $101B at this point last year. And Goldman's prime book shows hedge funds cutting tech at the fastest pace since 2016. When the "safe" names need default insurance, it isn't a neocloud problem anymore….. it’s straight up a funding problem. And funding problems always end up on the headcount line. Listen for "efficiency" on the Q3 calls. H127 looks to be bad for the workforce.

BREAKING The Treasury’s entrepreneurship adviser has announced she is quitting. Alex Depledge tells my colleague @hannahprevett start-ups are treated as a “sideshow” and a “nice to have”. “Entrepreneurship can’t be seen as a good news bonus on the margins of economic policy. That mentality is really dangerous for British business as a whole…” Depledge due to leave her role on Thursday, the day after the Budget. Read her full comments here👇 thetimes.com/article/b28ab86…

And the collapse in confidence is showing up in the tills. UK retail sales fell 0.4% in September, four times worse than economists expected. Households are being squeezed by food, fuel, heating bills and inflation, so they cut discretionary spending. Then retailers suffer. Investment slows. Jobs weaken. Growth suffers. You cannot tax, shock and frighten consumers into producing economic growth. Household security drives spending. Spending drives growth.

FWIW, retail sales are still holding up well: the 0.4% fall in September followed an upwardly revised increase of 0.7% in August, and the trend is still positive. But it's hard to see this continuing as higher inflation and interest rates undermine confidence and spending power.
