My father died Saturday at the age of 81. Phillip Mason never trumpeted his attributes. If you said he was perfect or that his life was extraordinary, he’d recoil. Never would he sprain his shoulder by patting himself on the back. But he was a good man, dad & grandpa. A 🧵:

Nobody is saying “the Knicks should never do phishing tests.” We’re saying “teasing employees with information about rings they earned but may not receive is unnecessarily cruel.” Because it is. Have a shred of respect for the people who work for you.
Replying to @SamQuinnCBS
it's standard cybersecurity practice. I've received 3 phishing test emails this week alone from my employer. It's cybersecurity awareness month. Seems bad and silly but this is exactly how hackers breach your network. I've seen multimillion data breaches happen this way.

That decline in such games is shameful and another manifestation of what has gone horribly wrong with college sports.
A stat that may explain Villanova’s decision: The last season before Covid, there were 50 true road games played by power-conference MBB teams against opponents from outside the power conferences. This season, there are 11 such games.

So, from 2000-17, the on-side kickoff success rate was roughly 19.5 percent. With all the changes to follow for kickoffs since then, it has dropped precipitously. A goal of the NFL should be to find a system that gets the success rate back where it was.
Kicking teams are now zero for 17 on recovering onside kicks across the NFL this season, according to the Amazon broadcast.

There are good team owners, bad ones, horrific ones and then there’s James Dolan, a jerk on a subterranean level all to himself — who, per @TheAthletic, didn’t give team business-side employees championship rings … and then sent out an email saying they would that turned out to be a fake phishing email, after which employees who clicked on a link at the bottom were enrolled in a cybersecurity class.
The Knicks' assistant coaches did not receive their championship rings during Tuesday's ceremony, despite being handed ring boxes, according to league sources. Many longtime employees at Madison Square Garden will not receive rings at all, per team sources. Those employees got their hopes up in late September, when they were sent a fake championship ring offer as part of a phishing test. nyti.ms/4jB0yvR

Broncos QB Bo Nix, on the state of his ankle and his recovery and return from the injury: "Let me see how to explain this: I've told y'all several times I'm all the way back. I feel really good. ... But I think when you go back and you look at a whole -- when you start from scratch in the offseason, when you go all the way back and you re-do it and you get ready for what is coming up in February, you're training looks like, sort of like a mountain. You're gonna climb and you're gonna peak at some point. I don't wanna be peaking until the playoffs. I don't want to be peaking at my best (until then) because you can't hold it the whole entire season. If you look at a training block, if you look at physical preparation, the guys that can build and grow and get to the peak -- which is the playoffs -- December, January, February, if you can get to that point and you can hold it, you'll feel really good and so, right now, it's like my freshman year in high school. I wouldn't say Week 4, was I exactly what I was Week 14 going into the semifinals and about to play for the state championship. My third year at Auburn, I would say the same thing -- I was peaking, and then unfortunately, I did get hurt at the end of the year. But for me, it's all about what's next, and for right now, we're in Week 6 going on 7. I feel as good as I've felt -- actually, I just spoke to our strength coach, I'm hitting better speeds than I have since being here. So, maybe I should have said that; that would have answered your question pretty easily. But I feel great and I think it's just important y'all understand the process of what it's actually like to go through the season getting your body ready for a 21-, 22-week season where you're playing elite teams week after week. So, I feel great, and I feel like each week I'm gonna continue to get better and better, and I'm exactly where I want to be."

Broncos edge rusher Jonathon Cooper was asked what he'd say to women who are Broncos fans who might be uneasy about supporting him in the wake of the allegations against him: "Yeah, honestly that, I -- that's hard. I feel like relationships are difficult. No excuses on my end. And I do apologize for anybody's feelings, truthfully, just because they have to be associated with me. I'm a grown man. I'm able to take things on the chin, and just want to say that I understand the concern; I understand the level of awareness, how serious these matters are. But the legal matters will take care of themselves, and yeah, things happen. Nobody's perfect, but there is also -- there's no excuses and I do hold myself accountable and yeah. things are going to sort themselves out. I promise that."
