There are valid criticisms to be made about Japanese society but some of you guys are one more "diddy sushi country" away from treating all Japanese people like this
The reason that there are no mainstream female characters with a body type similar to wario is that women just don't want to identify with that. Women want to be cute and pretty and identify with characters who are cute and pretty. That's why Disney women have the same face.

Maybe you shouldn't be coming to such sure conclusions having only lived in a society where children, as people who need to eat but cannot work, are considered nothing but a burden

The reason why the trans movement keeps saying Dems did nothing for them despite all objective evidence is because it's not about rights, it's about forcing acceptance and attention they cannot get elsewhere via the government.
Seeing a bunch of Dems on my timeline still not get this.
They're not satisfied because they're insecure in themselves and want you to wave a magic wand you will never be able to wave.
This is why the movement is so all or nothing: the majority do not know how to interact in society with others.

So let met get that straight: paying a wealth tax is impossible (“billionaires have no liquidity”, “it would be taxing unrealized gains”, “their wealth is virtual”) but paying half a billion to influence elections is possible. Did I understand well?
Elon Musk has cemented his record as the largest individual political donor in modern American history.
Musk poured $446 million of his own money into this year’s midterm elections, mostly aimed at preserving the Republican Party’s control of Congress. wapo.st/4igb5Kq

For the last decade there has been this cultural project on the far right to win over this specific type of voter through organizations like TPUSA and less obvious efforts that have centered on men's magazines, podcasts, anons, and publishing houses adjacent to the Expanded Thiel Universe and Claremont. It failed. And it's good that it failed. But it didn't fail because Dems beat them. It failed because the right never had anything more to offer other than race-based grievances. It is a failed youth movement run by Gen Xers and millennials, sustained exclusively by delusional billionaires and Fox News boomers. The question is what happens next.

The issue is far more complex than what meets the eyes.
For years and decades, these Indian and black kids grew up idolizing American culture. It was cool to be American.
Within last 2 years, the minorities have been demonized by frankly many on the right.
This will have far reaching political consequences.

Given that several of these ethnicities are high income and highly educated I think it’s worth asking more “how did we manage to alienate these people” instead of “how can we even be more a white ethnic party.”

Well… yes. That’s why we had the Neolithic Revolution. Humanity has continually transformed its productive forces to overcome material constraints. The fact that we must labor to survive doesn’t mean the way we organize production is eternal.

This clip shows all you need to know about Yglesias's worldview. He admits he thinks that Democrats should let migrants be tortured and say nothing, because Pragmatism. Mehdi points out that it's not even pragmatic because resisting ICE was popular. Yglesias has no response.
Me: "Even if it was unpopular, are you saying the Democratic Party should not speak out against the president sending migrants who have committed no crimes to be tortured in a foreign gulag?"
@mattyglesias: "Yeah."
Me: "Just stay silent?"
Yglesias: "I think that sometimes, if you want to help people... you gotta win first."
Me: "They might be dead in three years time, by the time you win."
Despite all the arguments on this hellsite over the exact number of his Piker tweets, this was the part of my interview with Matthew Yglesias that really stood out to me. I was actually stunned by this response. Shouldn't politics also stand for something more than triangulation, polling and 4-D chess strategizing?

Replying to @matthewstoller
Pre-election systemic lying about intentions is a decades-old perennial game by duopoly.
Dems are elected on healing economy, then govern ruining culture.
Reps are elected on healing culture, then govern ruining economy.
Both parties launch wrongful wars. Neither is elected on it.

Yglesias makes the point that one should stay silent on unpopular issues so one can win elections and then do the unpopular thing.
That’s an endorsement of systemic lying and betrayal as a governing strategy.
